The Space
You came here for this.
The New River Gorge Bridge rising out of the canyon. The sound of the river below. Long days outside that end with tired legs and something cold in your hand.
This home puts you right in the middle of it.
You’re less than 2 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge and can walk to Adventures on the Gorge — which means your trip starts faster and feels easier from the moment you arrive.
Right where the Gorge starts
Adventures on the Gorge — the area’s main hub for whitewater rafting, zip lines, rock climbing, and aerial obstacles — is a 0.3-mile walk from the back door.
Canyon Rim Visitor Center is 1.2 miles away, about 3 minutes by car.
This isn’t marketing math — it’s the actual location. You’re at the top of Ames Heights Road, right at the edge of everything this region is known for.
The Stay
Originally built as a coal camp house, this home has been thoughtfully renovated into a comfortable, well-designed place to land after a full day in the Gorge.
It keeps a sense of where it came from — while giving you everything you actually want now.
3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms Bright, open living space designed for relaxing together Fully stocked kitchen for easy meals at home Fast WiFi when you need it
Comfortable, clean, and intentionally put together — the kind of place that feels good to come back to. No washer or dryer — pack for the adventure, not the laundry.
Outside
This is where your evenings happen.
String lights on. Fire going. The air cools down just enough to make you stay out longer than you planned.
It’s quiet here. Easy. The kind of space that doesn’t need much to feel right.
Swiftwater Café is about 350 feet from the door if mornings call for coffee you didn’t have to make.

Great place
House was wonderful- enjoyed the deck w/ fire table, the grill, and a kitchen with basically all of the gadgets. Beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. House was as well-very well done. Very close to Fayetteville and New River Gorge. The neighborhood is textbook rural Appalachia, but never felt unsafe in any way. Would definitely book again.
