"unaccommodating reception staff"
we did not get the room we had requested and they were not going to please us we were told stories by several staff members like the place was totally occupied we checked the units at night to see which units were occupied and there were lots of them vacant with ocean views we booked the 1st , which was an extra night , thru you and got the worst room location there was ,1st floor in a corner looking at a hill (Glenda Tehada was one unfriendly lady who took care of us at the reception) we have a membership with the place for 10 years and had hoped for a better treatment we requested an upper unit with oceanview ( we have an ocean view ownership) in Hale 1 and got a unit in Hale 8 on the 2.nd floor we had to hang over the balcony to see the ocean, no late check out was allowed this poor, unfriendly service usually does not happen to us anywhere we go

"Unbelievable"
Our family stayed at the Grand Hyatt for four of our 8 days on Kauia and wished we could have stayed forever. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. From the pools, to the gardens and the hotel itself.... nothing is left unattended. The hotel staff also goes beyond expectations. From the moment you pull up you are made to feel welcome and at home. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and looked after your every need. The prices at the resort are a little over the top but well worth it for the time spent here.If you have kids with you, like we did, this place is great because there is so much for them to do and we felt safe to let them run around and do their own thing. Thank you to all our new hoapilis at the resort and thank you for making our stay truly unbelievable. Save us a spot by the lagoon because we will surely be back.

"better than expected"
Rooms were great - we hade a "garden view" condo, with two bedrooms, living room with pullout couch, and kitchen. Went with 3 adults, 2 kids. Our view was of the pool which was nice, and could see part of the ocean. Kitchen had fridge, microwave, oven, can opener, silverware/settings. There was a washer/dryer. Main bedroom had nice big bathroom with big shower. The shower head though was pretty small for the size of the shower. Air conditioning units in both bedrooms worked well, but main living room did get somewhat warm. There were plenty of warning about the ongoing construction, but this had little to no impact on our vacation. There was not excessive noise (but we were a bit away from main building under construction). There were occasional workers doing odd jobs around our building. The pool was great for the kids, very large, not deep, beach sand around it. Don't count on any privacy in the hot tub though, kids just go in that too. Wifi internet included, but had to enter a long username and password everytime you logged on which became annoying. Poolside grill ok. Overall very pleased and room much nicer than we expected. Would definitely go again.

"Nice hotel close to the beach"
Ocean view room was amazing. Could be loud on lanai, depending on neighbors. Otherwise, interior walls were thick enough.

"These are older condos, but very clean and comfortable. Be sure you check on the location within the complex, because some updgrades are worth it."
One stumbling block.....they contract the pool rights and the pool is only open until 6 p.m. We found that to be a little inconvenient, but otherwise it was a good place to stay.

Very pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed the pool and great view from the various look-outs. Quiet, homey, no beach but a short walk to 2 popular beaches.

"Don't assume there will be AC"
Any hotel accommodations that are in a tropical destination NEED A BIG FRICKEN WARNING when they DON'T HAVE AC. Kauai is obnoxiously beautiful. The condo was ridiculously magnificent. I was miserable every moment I was in it. The temperatures got into the 90s every day and the humidity was so high that every surface was wet. I'm a little person that is usually cold most the time so if I was miserable those conditions could potentially kill the typical mid-westerner.
