Hotel OZ Grand
"The hotel is in a beautiful location, and one of the highlights was actually the restaurant directly across the street—they had some of the best fish we ate during our entire stay in Cartagena. There was definitely a language barrier at times, which made it difficult to call the front desk and ask for certain things because we didn’t always understand each other. However, we were in Colombia, so I completely understand that Spanish is the primary language and I don’t hold that against the hotel. My biggest issue was the inconsistent information from the staff. The bellboys would tell us one thing, while the reception staff would tell us something completely different. That caused some unnecessary confusion during our stay. Breakfast was also very limited if you’re vegetarian. There was fruit, but many of the pastries and other breakfast items contained meat, so there weren’t many options available. As far as amenities, there really weren’t many at the hotel, so I’m not sure what amenities guests would actually be able to take advantage of. Overall, the location was beautiful and convenient, but clearer communication between staff members and more vegetarian breakfast options would have made the experience much better."
