Old hotel, smells weird, not much of a view.

Pros: The location was good. Right in the heart of downtown. Valet parking service was very prompt and well done. Great variety for breakfast.
Cons: More attention to detail--such as improving the smell of the elevators, getting rid of the annoying accent of the elevator voice, cleaning staircase.
Location: Don't expect anything to be open on Sunday. Not many restaurants around at all. Several Parks nearby. Theaters right accross the street.
Stayed here for two nights. Their breakfast was really nice. They don't really have a dining room, so you just sit wherever you can find a spot. Room was clean, but the hotel overall smelled a little bit old. They only have one ice machine for the hotel. Staircases were not very well cared for.

Nice hotel close to theatre.

Congratulations to the pastry chef. Our bread pudding and lemon cake were wonderful. The free breakfast was the only thing that was disappointing. They had boiled eggs, scrambled were an extra charge. We ate breakfast elsewhere.

This hotel was conveniently located in the downtown area next to my office. It is a great choice for business travel.

This hotel is located in a convenient area of downtown. It is a great choice for business travel. Hotel room was clean and the bar in the lobby was fun. You know you're in Texas when there's cattle hide upholstery!

Great Hotel with European Flair

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, free local calls, valet service -, free local transportation, great bar service w/a smile, super front desk agents
Cons: sometimes rates can be pricey
If you are longing for a charming European experience, but don’t have the time, nor the inclination to travel across the Atlantic, consider checking into The Lancaster Hotel in Houston’s downtown theatre district. I did, and my experience was thrilling. First and last impressions are forever! Andrea took care of my pre-reservation needs with great accuracy. During check in Kelly was gracious and Cheryl was wonderful with the check out process. Since I have stayed at The Lancaster many times before, I’m always looking for consistency in the quality of guests’ services, room comfort, and great valet service (Pape, Bon, and Emanuel). You’ll enjoy fresh flowers in every room, a large, white sparkling marble bathroom, tasty foods and beverages are offered in the Bistro, with a New American Cuisine menu. Dino is the best Bartender in the area. The countless little memorable tidbits remind me of a certain place when choosing a special hotel lures me back. Stana and Andrea keep a watchful eye on the tiniest, simplest details that make a huge difference in a good stay versus a great one. Stana went the extra-mile visiting with me inquiring if I were well cared for. As a final “insider tip,” in the Bistro, try Dino’s martini and from the menu you might want to consider the delicious crab cakes, lamb meatballs, and one of their fresh salads; these items are served anytime.

Beautiful Hotel-Great Value and comfort

This is a classic hotel, yes it still has a CRT TV. The rooms are not huge. If you want a huge room, get a suite. Travel was for business, and it was perfect for me. Right downtown. Could walk to theaters and the ball park. If you want to not remember where you were staying, even what city, stay at the Marriot. If you want to stay in a beautiful building with character, and don't mind if everything isn't the same as every other hotel, stay here. And save half your money for a better experience.
