Alan (the manager) was so helpful with any questions we had. It was nice staying in a small, out of the way, area. No crowds and a secret beach walking distance from the door. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely returning.

Nice location, quiet and comfortable. Easy to get into town but far enough away to be out of the bustle.

Bring your own glasses

Very nice landlord. With at least 3 room facilities, there are not quite enough dishes with only 2 glasses available, but he managed to accommodate us with a plastic glass. General cleaning would need more attention as long black hair was on the bathroom floor, not our colour! Sleep well, was a good last minute reservation but certainly not a first choice.

Affordable, quiet place to stay in Hilo

Pros: Location, cost
Cons: put a mirror over the sink in the bathroom
Location: A small beach nearby, downtown Hilo and the airport a few miles away. Shopping and dining in downtown Hilo, a great farmers' market.
Aaron's cottage is actually two cottages now. Each small house has been divided into 3 to 4 rooms with somewhat amateurish remodeling skill. Each room has its own bathroom. In the building we were staying the bathroom was "wet" with an open shower in a corner. Use the bathroom barefooted after it gets wet to avoid getting it dirty.. Each building has its own kitchen with a limited assortment of breakfast items, like eggs, milk and fruit you fix for yourself. When we were here 2 years ago the lady host fixed a breakfast for the guests, like macadamia pancakes, but not now with new management. Any condiments have been provided by past guests. The location is in a mixed residential area without much traffic, but still convenient to downtown Hilo and the airport. A small beach on a branch of Hilo Bay is an easy walk down the street. We saw turtles and dolphins looking out into the bay from the rocks. The price and location are right even though the accommodations are a little quirky.

Great value for a place to stay in Hilo

Pros: I liked the price, location, relative quiet, accommodations, and the great breakfasts. The friendly owner knew a lot about the Hilo area and Hawai.
Cons: New carpeting would help.
Location: Location is south Hilo Bay a few miles away from the airport. The Hilo farmers market was a hoot. We helicoptered to see lava and waterfalls.
The cottage is a house remodeled into three hotel-like rooms. The resulting rooms are a little dated with some wearing and stains on the carpet, but not bad. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious with a table and chairs to sit at. A small refrigerator is in the room. Free parking. The water in the bathroom was instantly very hot, so you had to be careful. There is only a shower, no tub. The owner makes breakfast about 7:00 am which we enjoyed the two mornings (macadamia pancakes with sausage and scrambelled estate grown eggs with Portuguese sausage. She also grows coffee beans and makes the coffee, which was terrific. Also local fruits are available in the kitchen along with and assortment of cereals, bagels, bread, juice and milk. A full breakfast, indeed! The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood near Hilo Bay with access to the Bay edge at the end of the street. Not so quiet are the coqui frogs that call at night. They didn't bother me, but they kept my wife up some with their calling. The price can't be beat.

Hello Hilo.

Pros: The setting was wonderful. Alan was a great source of information of things to do, places to eat, history and lore. Good experience.
Cons: My only complaint was the mattress was not comfortable. Time for a replacement.
Location: Great farmer's market and shops.
Wonderful yard, porch, hosts and breakfast. Arrived late but Penne had left note on door with easy explanation to check in. Nice laid back place and beautiful yard. Was a wonderful place to stay. Easy walk to water. Can't wait to go back.

Pros: Very cozy
Location: Short drive from airport and not far from the town.
Very nice cottage. Allan,Penny and the dogs are amazing. Love the breakfast, specially the home made bread prepared by Penny. Don't forget to visit the beach at the end of the road. Hotel is a short drive from the airport.

Owner was nice. Service was good. Eventhough the decor is old I still rate it 4 stars.
