Cannot beat the view.

The view is wonderful.. right on the ocean. However housekeeping does not come in the room at all.. had to ask for clean towels..was told I could also wash them in the room as there was a washer and dryer.. however the dryer did not work. The office staff was helpful and asked him to bring another set of towels there were 5 of us for 8 days and I was there for 2 weeks. I have stayed here many times since 1980 and never had this problem. There were also roaches. I have stayed here about 17 times since 1980 but not in the last 10 years. It seems many if the services have changed as well as the management. Having said this I would go again just because of the location. Now that I know I would just not expect housekeeping services. The material that they give you in check in state housekeeping does not visit the room everyday, It should read NEVER.

Worse part of my vacation

Our shower curtains had mold and there cockroaches everywhere. We were charge a fee to clean the room after our stay for the next guest, which is so irrelevant because rooms are not clean at all.

Hotel that needs a lot of updating

The one unit bedroom was pretty old looking & not updated at all. No A/C unit. One of the security guards was extremely rude . The place should be updated for the money they charge!

What happened to customer service

Pros: There was reasonable transportation available to get around to other areas on the island
Cons: Overall customer service
From our check in to our check out the customer service at the hotel was non existent. I tried asking about tours/activities to do around our area and I was rudely told to take a pamphlet and the desk clerk just pointed towards them. I was expecting to handed one at least and maybe have them point out their favorite areas or recommendations. When I asked for extra towels I was told I needed to BRING DOWN the dirty ones in order to get clean ones. Customer service needs to be looked at and maybe some training needed.

Kona Bali Kai, Kona Hawaii

Pros: Abe, Darren, Marlaina and the view from the room.
Cons: Red ant infestation, , lanai screens filthy as were the fans. Not enough noise barrior between floors. Lanai screens did not lock. No safe.
Location: Beautiful location, close to downtown Kona, swim, surf, snorkels, cultural events, shopping.
Loved the location. Staff very friendly and attentive to needs, Marlaina, Abe and Darren are wonderful. All issues attended to promptly.

Read the fine print before signing up

We reached after office hours and the check in was via intercom. Not a problem. There was an issue with the lock on the room - we were given a code to a padlock to unlock our room but there was no lock! The room, in a separate building across the road from the coastline and main building, had its usual inbuilt lock to which we had no key. To their credit, the hotel staff was courteous when they showed up and provided a key soon enough. But it's not a pleasant experience to run around with your luggage in the dark and humid night after a long flight. The room was comfortable and clean with the exception of the bathtub. There was big red stain, too large to miss, probably an insect killed by the previous occupant. Too tired by then and with a day of travel ahead, we let it pass. So it came as a rude surprise when there was a cleaning fee ($40) assessed at check out the next day. I have no issue with paying the fee or even the amount. Just that it should be more upfront instead of being buried in the fine print. And that the cleaning fee should be used for what it's meant for.

Spectacular view

Pros: It was on the ocean, couldn't have been better.
Cons: Definitely the kitchen and bath.
Location: Great location for watching surfers, shoreline access, walking along the street. Not far from restaurants and shops.
The condo was ON the ocean. Wonderful lanai where we could watch turtles and surfers and hear the waves constantly. The furniture on the lanai, in the bedroom and the living room was very nice and comfortable, and the floors there had just been re-done. There were nice ceiling fans. But the kitchen and bath could be re-modeled, but after a day on the lanai, that was forgotten!

Decent hotel close to the beach.

Pros: I liked the convenience of having a kitchen and being able to buy food and cook meals at our leisure.
Cons: The sofa bed was really uncomfortable and slanted downward. Not sure if this is normal or not.
Location: Great location. Close to lots of beaches, shopping and activities.
I really enjoyed this hotel. The plumeria trees and variety of orchids all around the property made it not only beautiful to look at, but also pleasant smelling and added to the tropical ambience. The roar of the ocean could be heard even on the mountain side of the hotel where we stayed across the street (the hotel has an ocean side and a mountain side). The only real complaint I have is that I'm not sure the comforters are cleaned on a per guest visit as the comforter had some stuff on it although it looked clean on the outside. Also, there was a burn hole in one of the blankets, so this tells me that someone either tried hide it or the cleaning service missed it because it wasn't washed. If it was washed, it was overlooked which isn't good. Overall, my family had a great experience with this hotel condo and we would gladly come back here again to stay. Mahalo!

Pros: location
Cons: customer service
Location: lots of restaurants
we had booked a room (oceanfront, not cheap) for 2 nights, prepaid. Woke up at 8 AM because somebody was drilling holes in our wall, then we heard sawing on the balcony. The suite next door was under construction. I complained immediately and the receptionist offered me the room next door, which would have made not much difference. We decided to check out instead. She advised me to contact Travelocity in order to get a refund for the 2nd night. The hotel refuses to give us a refund, as it claims that they were unaware of the construction. Should the management not be aware of what is going on within the resort, which rooms are inhabitable?
