Extremely loud music beside us until 2am

We stayed at Cameo Hotel from a Friday to Sunday (2 nights in July). Both nights had extremely loud music until 2 am from directly outside our bedroom window. We could look down at a night club on a rooftop patio. My earplugs didn't even prevent to bass from traveling through my body. It was absolutely awful. There is no preparing for the loudness you are about to experience if you stay at this hotel on a weekend. Added to this... the accomodation has some sketchy building workmanship (IE: loose faucets, shower doesn't drain, hard bed, poor lighting mounted on the wall).

I LOVE this property and love it even more when cheap stays come up! Location, accessibility, parking, and comfort - not to mention the rooms/suites are modern and updated. I love having a full fridge and stove available- it's just like a home away from home. My fav hotel in Halifax hands down- and I've stayed in MANY.

I was initially sceptical about online, contactless check in, however, the process was entirely seamless. This model allows you to stay in very popular areas for a lesser cost (and who doesn’t love that?) Our suite was more than we could have needed. We would stay here again.

There is no parking associated with the hotel. However there are multiple lots within a few minutes walk. The air conditioning unit is portable and has a noise level equivalent to a window unit. Nicely equipped unit. Clean and comfy. TV is set up with Roku. Hotel is ideally located. Close to sights and restaurants.

Horrible place - you can’t even get into the building because their door lock is broken and they refuse to fix it. So you have to break in every time. No security. You can’t get any assistance from the hotel. Loud music blasting from the nightclub right beside until 2 am. Will never stay here again. The cleaners are great though!

Broken door lock and the hotel will not fix it

This hotel does not even pass a basic standard - you can’t even get into the hotel. The main door code lock does not work. We booked multiple suites amongst our group of friends and tried several different codes - one worked after numerous tries. We tried to contact the hotel and they were non-responsive. We booked this hotel for two segments of our trip and the hotel still did not fix the door after being informed. It looks like many people have complained about this issue online. Zero security at this hotel as it is easy to bypass the main door lock with a card. It is also very loud and located beside a nightclub which blasts music until 2 am. Stay elsewhere!

Terribly loud.

The room itself was super nice, clean, comfy bed and really nice kitchen setup. The club right outside de window was so extremely loud until 2am. Thursday I was able to get some sleep with ear plugs and a white noise machine beside my head, but friday night was even louder and I could still hear the music clearly with my earplugs/white noise. The walls are thin as well, you can hear everything. I found that when we first came in the room it smelled like cigarette smoke, but then subsided after the first night. For the price, Its not worth it. I would stay at Hotel next time.

This is a great spot if you don’t mind the excitement and noise from the streets outside. It is the club and bar district on both the front and back of this building, so music played loudly until 2am (which we were told about in advance). We had some tech issues with our code not being registered correctly for us to get in the building, but within an hour the texting with staff got it sorted. We would return, it was a great location and a great price ! Read the entire details before booking as this wouldn’t be the choice for many others I’m sure! We loved the detailed email and message we got after booking, smooth experience!

Very nice. The air cooling units are pretty noisey. Would be nice to have a queen bed in the 2nd bedroom. Very nice to have a dishwasher and shared complimentary laundry facilities. Building is very quiet.

Great location!

We had an amazing stay in Halifax. The Cameo hotel is in a great location, close to everything. The suite is modern and clean and has everything you need. The only downfall that may affect some people is the hotel backs onto Argyle St and The Pint bar is basically connected to the back of the hotel so you will hear the thumping of the music till 2am or so. This didn’t affect my sleep and the hotel provides ear plugs beside the bed which was nice. I feel this is the price you pay for being right downtown so we were ok with this. Also, there is no parking available able by the hotel, we parked in the parkade down the road which only came to $45 for 2 days and 2 nights of parking. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Cameo and would recommend.
