Nice but...

Issues checking in, not as clean as it could have been, the sliding door to the deck barely opened. To top it off there was no water on the last morning. So no shower or coffee! So we had to cut our visit short and head home. The worst part of that ordeal was no apology was offered, only "we had a pump blow in the night". They didn't offer any kind of credit towards another visit, disappointing.

Loved the lodges

Spent two nights with my family. We are too big for a traditional hotel room so the lieutenant lodge was perfect. Beautiful high ceilings, amazing slate shower, small kitchen area with island and seating and even a little private deck. About 10 minutes from the Gettysburg battlefield and well worth the drive. Housekeeping wasn't perfect. There was a rubber band from someone's previous occupancy on our bathroom floor, and the towels that were left for our second day were left on top of the toilet (yuck!). Some of the pillows were too small and squishy for our liking as well. However All the sheets and towels were spotless as was the kitchen however so it was not a huge issue. Beds were comfortable and we found ourselves almost wishing it was colder so we could use the fireplace! We would definitely stay at the Lodges again. And we have already recommended it to friends.

We are so pleased to hear that you loved our lodges and would recommend them to others! Thank you for the great review and we do apologize for something being left in your cabin. We are very careful to thoroughly clean all of the cabins after a guest leaves and somehow we failed. Please come back and see us again very soon!

Wonderful, private cottage

We loved these cottages. We didn't want to leave! It was nice to be able to get away and be by ourselves and we didn't have to deal with other guests or stuff bothering us.

It was ok

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, no free breakfast
The bed was so uncomfortable. When we took a shower the tub filled up so we were taking a shower in standing water for 2 days. I requested to have the sheets replaced and the bed was made but the sheets were never replaced. The lodge also needed more parking spaces. The "continental breakfast" cost over $5 a person. Don't call it a "continental breakfast" if its not free. Other than that its a nice place but needs a little more work.

This hotel offered private villas and beautiful views.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
This is the first time that we have stayed at the Lodges. Each villa is warm and welcoming. Ours had a full living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Even the bathroom was lovely. View was amazing.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
We arrived late at the hotel, but we were greeted with great customer service, the room was beautiful and clean, and we were very satisfied with the overall accommodations of the hotel. We have already talked about coming back to the area to stay at the hotel! The only concern we had was the breakfast (my boyfriend is lactose-intolerant, and it didn't leave him with a lot of options). Otherwise, the breakfast was sufficient and fresh! I highly recommend this location for any type of travelling, particularly for those who may want a quiet, tranquil place to stay while in town!

Enjoyed the quiet retreat

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, clean
We arrived on Saturday and were quickly checked in. The Captain’s quarters we stayed in was NY and it was perfect. The wooden floors are in terrific condition and very clean. No problem walking around in bare feet. The bathroom has slate floors and shower and also were very clean. Robe was wonderful to have after showers. Granite countertops in both bathroom and kitchenette. The kitchen had a very nice table to sit and look out the window at the view. They have all you need for a kitchenette, silverware, plates, bowls, wine glasses, coffee mugs and drink glasses. Coffee pot, microwave and small refrigerator. We brought a small fold up side table and sat out on the back porch with a glass of wine and plate of cheese and crackers we brought. It was very relaxing. There was so much to eat at breakfast that we skipped lunch most days because we were still full. Yes, it is continental and there were assorted bagels, cheese pastries, a couple of varieties of yogurt, several types of cereal, bananas, apples, strawberries, and apple juice, and my all time favorite croissants. Also coffee and variety of teas. (there are also coffee and teas in your room). The two employees we met were friendly and informative. Each time we crossed the main desk they asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. We honestly can't wait to go back again in the fall. Word of advice to those heading here, go slow along the main road or you will miss the turn off. There are no signs and after spending time here were sort of glad there weren't.
