Most of the structures burnt to the ground in the 18th century, so a majority of the buildings are a mere 300 years old. The Abbey library contains an outstanding collection of both print volumes and drawings, many of which have now been digitized through a partnership with Danube University-Krems. While the heavy fog that often rolls off the Danube makes the scene look pretty gothic, the cathedral is actually baroque.
