A great convention hotel right on the beach

Pros: Location, food choices, ambiance, access to the beach, the spa, and fitness center
Cons: Just need to finish up the construction but other than that all is looking great!
You won't find many hotels with a convention center, two pools, a kids water park area, spa, two floor fitness center, two hot tubs, bars, a selection of top shelf places to eat and great service like this. While they are finishing up construction/renovation on some rooms it's basically ready to go and is an outstanding place to stay. We loved all the food options, the pools are open 24x7 but towel service is from 7 - 7 so plan accordingly.

Full service resort hotel on beach

Pros: Friendly staff and many amenities.
Cons: More consistent housekeeping.
Location: Location is not in the heart of Hollywood, yet there are dining and shopping options a short walk away.
I enjoyed my stay at the Diplomat resort. Most of the guests were families and couples. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was well maintained. Amenities can be costly (resort fee, beach umbrella fee, etc.), but I knew that before I went. There are many dining options, which are generally pricey, but you're paying for the convenience of not having to leave the resort. There are other dining options and grocery stores within a 15-20 minute walk. Room service was very efficient and the food quality was fine. There are two pools, two hot tubs, a well-equipped gym, and several bars. The only glitch I experienced was that my room was not cleaned the day before I checked-out. Housekeeping never entered the room that day. I would visit the Diplomat again.

Luxurious hotel and amazing Chef

Pros: Clean, beautiful, well maintained and groomed grounds and beach. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Cons: The coffee shop near the north tower was sometimes understaffed and long wait times - probably because of the wonderful pastry selection!
Location: Haha - I never left the premises. Spent all day on the beach. Live entertainment and fire pits at night. No reason to leave!
The hotel was beautiful and I loved the modern and functional room. Normally I don't eat at the hotel but this trip I didn't have a car. What a pleasant surprise. Both the cafe and the seafood restaurant were gourmet dining experiences. The front desk communicated via text for any questions I had and was quite responsive and followed up on any questions including thanking me for my stay after departure. I cannot recall a better experience in the past few years. Well done, Diplomat!

Easiest most relaxing vacation ever

Easiest most relaxing vacation ever. We walked in and were treated with respect right from the start. Ocean view was beautiful and weather cooperated just right. The beach staff made our vacation one I want to remember.

50/50

You may or may not get the room you booked, it's kind of like Rock Paper Scissors. Hotel was very clean, modern appliances and marble/granite. Hotel staff was a horrible nightmare. Not only were they miserable but they made it abundantly clear they wanted nothing to do with me or my girlfriend and for us to be on our way between every check in, phone call or order. After being given an entirely different room because ours was "no longer available" we downgraded rooms, beds, view and size for the same price. Instead of apologizing for our room being sold the clerk than tried to make me feel like she was honoring me or blessing me by allowing us to stay in one of the 100+ available kids rooms. I ordered a corner room labeled "Ocean/Partial Ocean view", Not only was my balcony completely lockedoff but the only view I received was the view of the hotel wall across from us. Overall disappointed with primarily the staff and how I was handled/treated. Don't think I ran into a single pleasant person working on the night shift, Thanks Diplomat

watch out for hidden charges

Cons: The hotel became very retro and is under construction
Upon check out I was charged $500 for hotel accessory fees which I was told was for pool and beach chairs. I was never told this when I booked the rooms and thought everything would be paid and I wouldn't have to worry about more money

Construction, restaurants closed and horrible staf

Nice hotel on beach. Waited 45 minutes to check in and the waits didn't stop. The staff was slow and unfriendly. There was no mention of construction when booking, and there was no discount and all the restaurants were closed. The pool/beach areas were crowded and took almost 45 minutes to get a beach chair. The hotel itself is nice, clean and comfortable. Considering the staff and wait times for everything I would avoid this resort if you can.

Very nice resort, but service is lacking

Pros: Everything but the level of service.
Cons: Service: It doesn't seem to be important here or a least that was our perception
Location: Great location
Beautiful resort, room and facilities. From arrival to departure is was the small things kept me asking myself if we would return. Arrival: valet process a bit chaotic, no offer to help with luggage, front desk asked if we would like a mini bar key (we did not request, it was offered... this is important for later), $32 plus tax for overnight valet (would have been palatable if if was included in your bill versus now standing in another line outside to pay for parking). Also a nice perk at other like resorts, is that the desk calls for your car, which is always a nice touch. So, you check out, get in line to pay and then wait for your vehicle to be retrieved. Back to the mini bar. My wife and I returned from a night visiting a couple of clubs and found ourselves thirsty for water. I have seen it where there are 1 or 2 free bottles in the room or water available for an extra fee neither of which were available here.... now is when the mini bar key offer comes in to play. No worries, I'm sure there is something in the mini bar. To my disbelief, after unlocking the mini bar I find it empty. I know it is sad that in this era we snub our noes at tap water, but that was our only option without leaving our room again at 2AM. During check out I informed them about the empty mini bar and they stated they were aware, but if I needed more fridge space it would be available... how stange. If when they offered the key they stated this, I would have declined.
