Country Inn & Suites Duluth was… fine. The lobby looked nice, the pool existed, and check-in was quick — though I think I must’ve angered the desk clerk somehow because we were blessed with the reject room. My husband, 17-year-old daughter, and I got a two-queen room, but the bed my husband and I chose had a divot so massive I’m pretty sure it’s a leftover mining pit from the Iron Range. Every time we finally managed to fall asleep, we rolled into each other like mismatched bowling balls. If you’ve ever wanted a forced cuddle simulator, this is the mattress for you. The rest of the hotel? Totally decent. But that bed? Hands down, worst night’s sleep of my life — which really set me up nicely for the four-hour drive home the next morning. Nothing like white-knuckling it down the highway in a zombie state because your bed was basically a trapdoor to spooning hell. Next time I’ll just book a campsite — at least the ground is flat.

Staff was fantastic, breakfast was fabulous. Hotel needs some updates especially in the rooms. Flooring was a little gross, stains on the floor, needs new or different mattress. Outside seating area dirty, looks like after party area.

Couldn’t have breakfast due to the 7:00 breakfast time on the weekend. We were in Duluth for a race that we had to be at at 7am, breakfast should be at 6 . Also there was a strong smell of marijuana in the hallways.The front desk woman who checked us in was neither friendly or rude, just no smile, no energy, just blah. I would not stay here again.

I’d look elsewhere if you’re considering

The hotel was in need of maintenance and cleaning all over. Walls, baseboards and floors were dirty and surfaces felt sticky. Chips in walls, light bulbs out, loose faucet. The pool slide was out of order the whole weekend which was a selling point for us to stay there in the first place so that was disappointing as well.

Our bed was really hard to sleep on. The hot tub could have used a cleaning and the slide for the pool was down. Staff were diligent about letting guests know ahead of their stay of the slide being down. Breakfast was standard continental breakfast. Main entrance and hallways were well kept. Rooms were large for a standard double queen room.

Our room was not fully clean. There was dirt and crud on the walls. Under the bed my 10 month old baby was grabbing earrings and cups and wrappers from previous guests. The front desk workers were unkind and rude. We had a nice stay but was not cleanest all. The big pool and kiddie pool were also really cold. And hot tub was yellow from lack of cleanliness.
