    Hong Kong Hotel Travel Guide

Famed for its glimmering high rises and fast-paced city living, Hong Kong blends futuristic cool with a rich cultural heritage that dates back to the Qin Dynasty. Look past the iconic skyline, and you'll find forest-lined peaks on the North Shore and ancient Chinese temples all waiting to be explored. Resorts in Hong Kong offer a luxurious base for your getaway to the Pearl of the Orient.

Funiculars and Feasts in Hong Kong

Begin your adventure with a ride on the Victoria Peaks tram, which will whisk you a dizzying 1,805 meters above sea level for a near birds-eye view of the city. Take your trip from land to sea with an afternoon cruise on a traditional Chinese junk boat, and prepare to be wowed by Hong Kong's cityscape. As the sun sets beyond the towering buildings, do as the locals do and head to the Temple Street Food Market, where curbside chefs offer fragrant noodle broths and more types of dim sum then you can shake a chopstick at. Menus are rare here, as are English-speaking hawkers, so prepare to smile and point at whatever tickles your taste buds. Hong Kong vacation packages allow you to stay on a budget, while the city's location in eastern Asia means it's affordable to include hot spots like Macau (the Vegas of the East), Beijing, and Taiwan on your itinerary. Many of the five-star, family-friendly Hong Kong resorts are perched along the edge of Victoria Bay, while charming colonial hotels on Wan Chai and Lantau Island are perfect for a romantic stay.

"perfect for one person per room"
If you are traveling alone, it is the best option, because rooms are very small. Maybe a couple that shares the same bed. Room with two single beds: unthinkable!

    "Pleasant Stay"
Good location, friendly and helpful staff at the counter and at the door. Bonus point: once in the room, discovered that the hotel provides a smartphone with free local calls and data. Pleasant surprise! We stayed on the 21st floor in the Tower. Would recommend this hotel to others.

"great deal for a reasonable price"
due to either overcapacity or reluctance of China's "New Rich" to descend on Hong Kong in view of umbrella campaigns, some of the hotels now fill their rooms via price discount and Harbour Grand is a five-star leader in the price competition. Keep it up! We will come back at that price!

    Harbour Plaza North Point

    "Surprisingly Affordable Luxury Hotel"
I like North Point area because it's located on Hong Kong island, which is less populated (by a tiny bit) than the Kowloon side. Because it's on the HK island side, the hotels are less expensive. Harbour Plaza was surprisingly luxurious and upscaled. It has several cafes and restaurants; but, honestly, you can find delicious and inexpensive meals anywhere in HK. I didn't see the need to dine at HP. Starbucks, 7-11, and a mini-mart style grocery store are located across the street on King's Road. Oddly, only guests staying for more than 30 days are allowed to enter the hotel on the first (ground) floor entrance. Short timers like me have to ride the escalator to the 2nd floor (reception/concierge/restaurant area) . The hotel staff was courteous and efficient. It was clearly stated that check-in time is 2 pm, but I saw a disgruntled guest checking in at 11:30 am and refused to leave his luggage because he has to go to work and didn't want a call when his room is available. The staff apologized to him and requested a room be cleaned for him as soon as possible. My budget room didn't have a harbor view (but costs on average $115 USD/night) was clean, spacious, and with a king sized bed. The bathroom was modern and decent. The 32" flat screen TV came with cable TV with international channels. The remote control was weak or low in battery. There was a refrigerator/freezer combination stocked with snacks and drinks for a fee. The room safe was large and easy to use.
