Cottage was cute. Food was terrible at restaurant. Eat before you come. Nowhere else around there to eat. Loved the outdoor pool. Loved the historical monuments documenting Borax mining. Only 1 other place in area to stay. Don’t miss Zabinski Point at sunset!!!

The best feature of the resort is no doubt the large pool, which is fed by a natural spring. The perfect place to unwind after an early morning beat-the-heat hike. It may have been just our own perception, but the whole place feels weighed down by a burned out and apathetic staff. Not to say that we received "bad" service by any means but most interactions expressed the bare minimum of spirit. Not that I can blame the cast of outcasts who live and work for small wages in such a remote and lonely place. The general lack of passion of the resort can be reflected in the little details: The water dispensers didn't work in three different hotel buildings I tried. The door damper on the entrance of our hallway was mostly ineffective and would slam behind us when we forgot to close it gently. Felt bad for the rooms closest to the door. The gate to the pool had an ineffective hotel card key reader leaving guests stranded outside the gate. I found a way to stick my finger in the falling apart latch to get it to open. I showed a few guests and even one employee the trick to get in and 3 nights later the gate was still broken. The rooms were fairly clean but could probably use a deep clean in the corners, paint touch up and new carpet. The AC was a bit smelly The breakfast buffet at 1849 was pretty bad but we had dinner at the saloon and it was great. Dinner at the Inn Resort up the road was good but not "fine dining" great as it is priced. All in all, still had a great time!

The resort was wonderful. A true Oasis inside the National Park. The grounds were great, and as soon as I pulled in i felt relaxed. The check in experience was quick, friendly and professional. I booked one of the 1 Bedroom Cabins, which was close to everything and made for a great 2 night stay. My room could have been cleaner, it definitely was not vacuumed in-between guests. There were lots of crumbs left over, from whoever stayed before. I just cleaned it up, as I just wanted to Hike the park, and not waste time complaining to management. My bed sheet also had holes in it, but I didn't notice until I was ready for bed, and again... I was there to hike and didn't want to waste my vacation time complaining. The pool was great, water was warm, but still refreshing. I ate at the Saloon one night, and got Ice Cream both nights. Everything was great!

Good location for exploring Death Valley. Although the accommodation is slightly older, the bed was very comfortable, room spacious and restful stay. The staff in the shops and restaurants were very friendly, and helpful. Good to have such facilities in a remote location.

Our stay was unacceptable due to severe safety and cleanliness issues. Sandbags at the entrance of Block 800 caused a major trip hazard; my partner fell and was injured. Another guest also fell. Safety and maintenance failed further with a broken pool gate and a foul corridor smell. Housekeeping was substandard: we had stained towels, dusty cups, and hair in the sink. Our check-in experience was inconsistent with other guests.

This is a resort property, and as a result is not inexpensive. Because it is so remote, that is to be expected. I was in Death Valley for the National Park, and on several occasions I failed to get current information. I did talk to the manager about my concerns, and she was very kind and thoughtful. Otherwise, I enjoyed my time. About meals: there is no breakfast included, but there are several food options available at the resort. The only other options are at the Inn at Death Valley, a mile or two away (another resort) and Stovepipe Well, about 20-25 miles away.
