Checked in early - room was ready and person at front desk was nice. Those are the positives. For the rest: when I parked my car to check in, an employee asked me in a very rude way to move it to the left side of the road as apparently it was bothering him where it was. I asked for and waited to get help with my luggage but none came. So I went to park my car myself (no valet service on offer but at least would have been nice to avoid carrying the bags to the room) and carried my bags to my room myself. Smell in the room was awful (mix of sewage and over-used toilets that you can find in national parks) - not sure how this is acceptable to anyone to rent hotel rooms like this. Carpets are used, amenities are not at the level they should be at. Cleanliness is questionable (dust on the floor, carpets need replacing, hallways are dirty and hallway walls have marks that make them look filthy). I considered eating something right before 2pm but there was no one whatsoever to provide any kind of service (including seating…) even though the restaurant is supposed to be open until 2. The cherry on the cake was an incredibly loud and smelly air conditioning that could not be turned off and kept running on and off through the night bringing noise level to over 60db, and impossible to turn off or disconnect. There's pretty much no decent option here for food, services, etc. - it's all at the small town down the hill for which you need to take the car.

Truly an oasis in Death Valley. Historic hotel that is well maintained and fun to explore. We enjoyed everything about our stay here and would highly recommend it to others. It’s worth the price.

It was the best option in Death Valley. The entrance is not obvious. There were no bell services and it was a long way to haul cases down a tunnel and then to the lift and finally the room. There was a strange smell in the corridor - slight sewage / toilet smell. The room was comfortable if dark.

Check in was easy. The keys to our room didn’t work. Went back to the front desk and they were fixed. Got back tot he room and opened the door to find someone was already into the room. After apologizing with embarrassment we went back to the front desk. We were upgraded to a different room. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. I with there were more casual dining options.

Our stay at The Inn at Death Valley was nothing short of incredible. Despite the intense heat (it reached 46°C / 115°F during our visit!), the hotel remained beautifully cool and comfortable throughout — a true oasis in the desert. The spring-fed pool was an absolute highlight. Surrounded by palm trees and open sky, it was the perfect way to cool off and relax after exploring the park. The natural water and tranquil setting made it feel more like a resort spa than a desert hotel. The property is stunning, with a mix of historic charm and updated luxury. Our room was elegant, quiet, and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape during the day and star gazing at night. We also loved the delicious breakfast each morning — fresh, generous, and served with a smile. Being inside the park made it easy to explore early in the morning or late in the day when temperatures were more bearable, without the long drive in or out. If you're looking for comfort, beauty, and convenience right in the heart of Death Valley, this is the place to stay. We can’t wait to return!

Best hotel in Death Valley

Excellent hotel!! Just wish it had an in-room safe, bigger in-room refrigerator(it was about 1¼ sf), and better shower pressure.
