Gorgeous Resort!

Pros: Beach, pools, towel service, ease to snorkel and free snorkeling equipment, comfortable beds, great hot showers/baths
Cons: Close off ceilings of second floor units. Can see when lights are on in other rooms and hear people talking. Annoying!
Location: Location is purposefully isolated...out of town. Mr. Sancho's looked fun, but we were told it was for cruise ship passengers only...cost to us $120/d
I had last stayed at the Allegro Resort in 1995 when it was the Diamond Resort and brand new. Some new pools and classes of service have been added (premium level and time-share, in addition to regular hotel guests). It is in the most gorgeous location and for the age of the resort, the upgraded rooms are nice. A wonderfully comfortable king-sized bed....even though we reserved two double beds....was large enough to partition off down the middle. Beware however of top floor rooms.......the quad-type structures share an open ceiling, making it possible to have a conversation in a whisper-tone with the people on the top floor. Thankfully, other guests were also aware of this and kept everything pretty quiet after about 9 p.m. Reserve the bottom floor, but be aware you may not get what you reserve!!!! Breakfast buffet is awesome, with omelette and juicing stations......remember to bring tips for those folks! Lunch (12-5) in the pool snack restaurant is OK....nothing special. Dinner was a "hit or miss".....sometimes delicious and sometimes nothing appealing. We ate at Iguana's across the street from the resort....great guacamole!....and in town at Rolandi's pizzeria, which was also delicious. All in all, excellent location away from town (10 miles out).

Nice beach, just OK food

Pros: Nice location
Cons: Food could improve. Order enough towels to cover the expected number of guests.
Good beach and good pools. The food was OK, but that's about the best I can say. The hotel had minor problems like running out of towels, etc, but was nice. Overall a fine 3 star place.

Hotel Allegro Cozumel

Pros: The location and the polite staff.
Cons: Food quality was very poor and needs to definitely be addressed.
Location: Close to airport, lots of afternoon day trips and night life. Fishing and scuba trips will pick you up at Allegro pier. This was very nice.
The hotel is located in a great location on the beach area. There are multiple pools with great views. The rooms are cute and clean. Our group or eight all got sick from something probably at the resort. Just like cruise ships, it is a hazard. We heard a few other stories from other guests. The staff didn't seem to know of any other illnesses. Bar services were great, staff very friendly. Lots of iguanas and coatimundis, very fun to watch. Food was very undesirable, this has been our experience at Barcelo resorts. Plan to eat out, which there are a lot of good restaurants close.

Dear Robert, Firstly we would like to thank you for taking the time to share your impressions regarding your recent stay at Allegro Cozumel hotel. It is only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and improve upon the service that we provide to our guests. We sincerely regret reading that you were taken ill during your stay and lament not being informed immediately as we would have been able to assist you and call a doctor for a checkup. However we would like to reassure you on our hygienic procedures and point out that our hotel, like every other hotel of our company, undergoes regular internal and external controls on food safety and adheres to strict standards on food processing, manipulation and conservation; under no circumstances we would put our guests’ health at risk by offering food unfit for consumption. Again, we genuinely appreciate the time you took out of your day to inform us of the inadequacies you experienced during your stay and we sincerely hope that you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our true level of hospitality and interest in serving you properly in the future. Kind regards! Mirna Peralta Guest Experience Manager Allegro Cozumel

Hotel with amazing beach

My gf and I were there for a week celebrating our birthdays. Hotel was nice with beautiful palm trees everywhere. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable but small too, the one thing we did not like was the lack of privacy. The walls in the rooms were real thin and we could hear our neighbors tv or their conversations and even their private time, which was pretty akward and unpleasant. The food was ok (not the best thing on the island) but they switched up the menu every day. We also had to pay for the WiFi, the hotel does not offer free WiFi. Overall I think their beauiful beach made up for everything, which was the main reason why we ended up choosing this hotel.

Overbooked - Got bumped to a different resort

Pros: Good food, even at the buffets. Great service. Gorgeous beach. Enough activities to keep everyone busy.
Cons: More help at the pool bar would be nice. Had to wait in line for a drink almost every time.
This review is going to be about our entire Cozumel vacation experience. The first thing I would like to mention is that if you are staying in Cozumel and are landing in Cancun, make sure you have enough time to get down to the port in Playa del Carmen (about 45 minutes from the airport) before the last ferry leaves for the day, which is usually 10 pm. We did not know this until a day before our vacation and had to switch our flights around. The ferry ride is beautiful from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. There are 3 different companies that run at different times, so don't book a round trip ticket, just in case that company isn't running at the time you need to return. We got to the Allegro resort l;ate on Friday night and was told they were overbooked and we were being "upgraded" to the Occidental Grand resort next door. They paid for our taxi ride there. Check in at Occidental went smooth, but we ended up with a room with 2 double beds. We were too exhausted to even bother changing to a room with a king bed. We don't spend much time in our room anyway. We did have an issue with our toilet one day, reported it that morning, and before noon it was fixed. Very nice resort. We were in building 12, which was up towards the front of the resort so it was a long walk to the pool/beach. Good food. Fun activities at the pool. Gorgeous beach. We kayaked and snorkeled.

3rd stay not so good

Pros: very friendly room maids and waiters. Also, the resort is beautiful from a landscaping perspective. Very well taken grounds.
Cons: the rooms! they need updated and maintenence needs to be done more often to keep things in better running condition
Location: location is well away from town that provides a quiet atmoshere. Mr. Sanchos is right next door to resort if you have kids
this was our 3rd stay at the ALLEGRO in Cozumel and it was a bad experience. We had a group of 8 and we were supposed to have 4 rooms that were adjoining and next to each other and they split us up on opposite sides of the resort. Our phone in our room did not work for 4 days after everyday going to the lobby to ask them to fix it. This was our only way to communicate with our family since our cell phones don't work in Mexico. Our toilet also was not working for 4 days. After 4 days and repeated promises from the lobby workers they finally got it fixed. The air conditioning in our room and our in-laws room were not keeping our rooms cool the entire 7 days that we were there. Hotel maintence said the rooms were fine. NOT!! The previous 2 stays were wonderful but this time was a major let down. If this would have been our 1st visit here then it would have been our last one as well. We were also supposed to be upgraded with extra perks in our room but we didn't receive anything different from the 1st timers. We were atleast to have a refridgerator in our rooms and never got one even after continual request to hotel lobby staff. Come on Allegro, you can do better!
