Hotel is in a great location, with all the main sites within a short walking distance. It’s a quaint building/setting with gorgeous courtyards and a nice small pool area, although we didn’t use the pool itself. Check-in was smooth and staff helpful with suggestions for restaurants etc. The honesty bar is also great and we enjoyed a few drinks in the impressive lounge bar.
Our room was big but due to the older nature the air con was noisy and we could hear when nearby rooms were having showers/running water.
The main issue was that our room faced the front of the hotel, looking out onto the cobbled street. Lovely view, but it was so incredibly noisy due to restaurants wheeling carts back and forth across the cobbles until midnight and starting again around 6am - this meant we got very little sleep. When we asked the reception if this was allowed (most cities have noise restriction timings), she looked at me blankly and said “I don’t know”. We fully appreciate it’s a gorgeous old building, but some modernisation of the window coverings would help with the sound, and perhaps a warning to those staying in those rooms would be helpful.
