How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Tri-Cities

These handy tips and pointers about airport security will save you a lot of time on your way to Tri-Cities:

  • Be sure you know the location of your passport and boarding pass. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to produce them.
  • You'll need to put your music on pause for a few minutes. Headphones and earphones must be removed and placed in a bin to be X-rayed. The same goes for items such as keys and coins.
  • Laptops must be removed from their cases and placed in a tub before going through the X-ray machine.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all creams, gels and liquids in a separate tub for inspection. Make sure they're all in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Undo your shoelaces in preparation for entering the body scanner. Depending on the type of shoes you're wearing, security may tell you to remove them.
  • The list of non-permissible items is forever updating. Browse your airline's website to understand what is not allowed on board their aircraft.
