Great hotel for large families

We always stay at the doubletree when we go to carowinds. It's perfect for large families because they have rooms with two bedrooms living room with pull out sofa bed and a kitchen. They also have a wonderful room service menu. Our children love it. They wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Check in was easy, greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie

Loved the hotel, very near my brother's house. Heard the kids in the pool in the am.

Great value for the money!

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
My fiance and I stayed here with our kids for one night to celebrate an early Christmas together and we couldn't have been happier. There was plenty of room for the six of us in a two bedroom suite (note that the two bedroom suite has one king bed, one queen bed and one sleeper sofa). We cooked dinner in the kitchen (bring your own pots/pans/utensils if you're going to cook) and had a leisurely weekend. The room was clean, modern and comfortably furnished. We'd definitely stay here again!

Poor Hotel with old, nasty rooms

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, Poor breakfast
My wife decided to try a different hotel in the Charlotte area for a change. That was a mistake. We chose the DoubleTree, as it has large rooms where my two year old son can run around. We got to the room and the carpet was stained and worn, the wallpapers was stained and scratched, the room smelled, and the kitchen was disgusting. The stove, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator are 1980's vintage, and were noisy. The heat/AC was inconsistent. We'd set the temperature to 70 degrees and it would fluctuate between 68 and 75, but generally blow cool air. The water pressure fluctuates in the sinks and shower and the shower consistently gets colder and colder, unless you turn the water temperature up. Room service was good, but maid service was spotty. They didn't seem to vacuum and they consistently forgot to provide us with towels. Breakfast wasn't complimentary, which is something I've grown to expect from a decent hotel. A bowl of cereal was $4. Internet access was also an issue. I can get free WiFi at a Marriott TowneSuites , but not at a DoubleTree? Marriott provides it, why can't Hilton? The only saving grace for this hotel is that they were remodeling, but that doesn't help now.

THIS HOTEL MADE MY TRIP TO CHARLOTTE A VERY NICE VISIT.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS TRIP WAS GREAT. THE HOTEL WAS VERY WELCOMING, CLEAN, QUIET, AN OVERALL GREAT PLACE TO STAY. A VERY QUICK CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT. WARM AND PLEASANT PERSONS AT THE FRONT DESK. I ENJOYED 1 MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT. THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I HAVE HAD IN A LONG, LONG TIME. HAVING A KITCHEN WAS AN ADDED BONUS. THIS IS SECOND STAY IN TWO YEARS. BOTH TIMES WERE GREAT FUN. NEXT TIME I VISIT CHARLOTTE, I WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE.

Great location and a BIG clean room. Nice.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: pool area in disrepair
The room was HUGE! It was very spacious with a separate bedroom, kitchen, private balcony, and a living room! The balcony was in need of repair and very small considering the size of the room. The location was excellent; quick walk to restaurants, a mall, grocery store, etc. The only extremely dissappointing factor was the pool. It was dirty and empty so we didn't feel comfortable relaxing in the lounge chairs around it. Full and clean it would have been a very inviting space.

Mostly Great Stay

For the location and price the stay was great. Located ten miles outside downtown Charlotte. Hotel located right beside a mall and it was within close distance of multiple eating and shopping areas. We stayed in a two queen and one king suite. Plenty of room to spread out. On the negative side...Poor ventilation when cooking, closet door broken in one room, minor toilet problems, and one day towels were not placed in the bathroom.

Average

The room was clean but smelled of deodorizer. The elevator and hallways were extremely warm. The hallways smelled of moisture. The room was difficult to cool. The staff were helpful and friendly. While you have a stove there are no pots to heat anything up in. If you can't mic it don't bring it.

Traveler Beware

I am used to stay in Doubletree Hotels across the country and this one is one of the worst I have stayed at in my travels. The first night I found a cockroach roaming my room and that was after I entered my room which was 85 degrees as per thermostat. When I went to bed 4 hours later it was down to 78. The bathroom was missing its towel bar. The toilet appeared to have leftover feces in it. I went to go get ice a floor down and there was a huge dead bug on the floor. The place needs to be exterminated. I can only wonder what the kitchen was like. Speaking of that, I had breakfast there each morning and the buffet is lacking. Stay away from the apple juice as it has fermented. The pastries are old frozen kind which still have freezer moisture on them. Back to my room, I changed the next day and they attempted to give me a room where I walked in and my whole face got congested due to the smell of mold. Thet finally gave me a third room which is missing a toilet paper holder in one bathroom and the other bathroom they have yet to replenish towels or toilet paper after 3 days. The walls in this hotel are not soundproof nor is ceiling/floor. The carpet is stained with many mystery stains. The kitchen in the room is outdated but serves its purpose. On a brighter note, it is right next door to South Park mall and has many nice places in the area. Sadlly the only bright spot deals with location and not the hotel. Stay in the area but do not stay at this hotel. I hope Doubletree pulls their franchise soon.
