When entering the lobby, the hotel looks fairly nice. The elevator was not even cleaned in the last six months. It was absolutely filthy. Should’ve been our first clue on floor three the carpet had not been vacuumed. Dirt everywhere entered our hotel room so many problems it would take many words to address it. Black bugs coming out of the bathroom faucet The tub drain backed up, left more dirt in the tub after the shower then before, coffee stain dripping down the wall, boxspring totally falling apart pieces hanging on the floor of the boxspring, room had not been vacuumed, found a bug on top of the bed. Little black look like a flea I could go on and on this place was disgusting. We asked to talk to a manager and was told they’re off for the weekend. They won’t be back till Monday, did not offer us a different room. We went ahead and checked out. When we checked in the couple ahead of us were on their third room if it hadn’t already been paid for through Expedia, we would’ve turned around and left. At that point. I still have not received a refund or my damaged deposit back. Expedia needs to remove this hotel from their app. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy.

Disappointing with Major Cleanliness Issues

I recently booked at the Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner from August 22-25, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, we were given our first room, only to discover bugs in the bathroom, on the bed, and on the floor. It was alarming to see multiple bugs flying out of the curtains. We promptly informed the front desk, and while the staff was accommodating in offering us a new room, our next experience was equally disappointing. The second room had an unbearable smell of urine and rotting food, and half of the lights didn’t work. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable, which led us to decide not to stay at the hotel any longer. When we sought a refund, we were informed about a 24-hour cancellation policy that allowed for a refund of only two nights, despite the issues we faced. Customer service promised a follow-up from management, but we never received a call. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience. Cleanliness and comfort should be a priority, and unfortunately, this location fell short in both areas. Pictures of this hotel are very misleading.

The carpets in the hallway are decades old and have been duct taped in some areas and are shredded and bunched in others. It made the whole hotel feel grungy. Actual room was in good condition and clean. There was a balcony, but no chair to sit in although the downstairs rooms had chairs on their patios.

Absolutely horrific. Waiting for a refund as I left. The hotel is used as a homeless shelter and I am unsure how Expedia does not disclose that fact. The door to the room I was in had been broken down with no door jams. Pool was green. Couldn't even swim in it. Poop on the sides of the toilet. Bugs on the wall. And most importantly no AIR CONDITIONING in 100° heat. Whatever you do - go somewhere else. I was in a long line of people waiting to get refunded

Red Lion needs more pride

Ooof, this hotel has gone downhill. I used to stay more, before I had a family and would come into town for shows - it was typically clean and maintained, spartan but comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. “Midwest nice” is getting competition from Boise these days. However…the desk chair had no cushion, the plate all but protruding from the bottom. The bathroom was dingy, the mirrored closet would only open halfway and then took force to get over screw heads in the bottom track to close. The curtains had a rod on the floor instead of being attached to the curtain, which tells me as much about the thoroughness of the cleaning as anything to have not found it and at least removed if not fixed it. The pool appeared green from our view instead of blue, paint was flaking inside and out, and overall the place seems run down and in bad need of renovations and updates. I have seen Red Lion in other cities and don’t see them as run down as this property was, so the chain seems healthy - we will not be staying at this property ever again, however.

Room was comfortable and relatively clean but the walk down the hall way with duct taped carpet was disappointing. On the elevator I talked to a family that looked like they went swimming. The mother told me the pool was pretty scary and they didn’t swim. The lobby and check your n was good but that hallway was bad

Bugs everywhere. Floors looked as if they were not cleaned prior, the desk chair and one lounge chair were not clean, both with stains and crumbs. The sheets had accidentally lifted from one corner of the mattress exposing a very concerning/alarming type of stain type.. Variety of dead and alive bugs. Bugs were crawling on our dog within 30 minutes of him laying on the floor. This place is disgusting. Balcony was dirty, spider webs and cigarette butts. Would never go back or recommend, even the front desk worker was horrified after showing pictures the next morning. We arrived late with a 12:30AM check-in from a long 12 hour day roadtrip, only once loading everything into the room and finally settling, we turned on all the lights to really discover what was happening in the room.

All the staff are amazing, friendly, helpful, caring. The property is so run down - the hallways, carpet. rooms in good shape. Pool area terrible, dead plants, weeds, pool is dirty and has mold. The lobby is warm, the hallways warm. Fans everywhere. Ran out of food at breakfast by 815am. very slow to refill, brought undercooked bacon.

Property is run down, outdated, wore out, haven’t put a dime into facility in years. Evedently they had a fire in a room over six months ago doors have axe cuts in them, carpet is duct tape together, room hadn’t been swept in weeks, cob webs on windows, toilet wouldn’t flush. All this after we were given a room that hadn’t been “cleaned” yet. By that I mean the bed and roll away bed which was still in there hadn’t even been made yet. Staff as friendly but I will definitely avoid ever staying here again.

The staff was very nice & room was clean. BUT.. It was 97 degrees outside and almost that hot in the room. Maintenance was sent up, couldn’t be fixed. I had to ask to be moved to another room. It was still terribly hot. We were not offered a fan & I didn’t know to ask for one until day 3. We were miserable at night. The elevator floor was really dirty. Like it was clean when we got there then never cleaned again. It became a joke. The pool looked pretty suspect too.
