Not worth the price

Our room did not have a functioning lock on the door. The employee told me that I was to use the flip safety latch. When I tried this, the screws came out of the wall and the latch came off completely. He then moved me to another room that had the same problem. Finally, I moved furniture in front of the door to feel safe. Other elements of the room were also in poor condition. The toilet paper holder had fallen down and the broken hardware was still attached to the wall. Cable didn’t work.

I remember the incident! I upgraded you to our Superior Queen room- the only one that was available. I helped you move your heavy luggage to your room. I am sorry about the latch and the toilet paper holder!! We had to call GCI, the cable guys to fix the problem you have caused when trying to on the TV. The TV was functioning well until you messed up the wiring. Next time, if there is a next time, please call the hotel staff to come and help you to on the TV if you are unable to do so!!! Thanks and Regards, Nad, Team Leader

Cute but not the cleanest

Pros: location
Cons: Need staff to offer to take luggage up flights of stairs since there is no elevator.
Bedspread was soiled and ceiling very dirty with cobwebs.

Cheap but not worth it!

Pros: It was inexpensive.
Cons: Service, room, add AC, add elevator, better breakfast - just about everything.
Location: Right in downtown Anchorage.
Found out that everything in Alaska is very expensive. Picked this hotel since it was relatively inexpensive (Sept 2016 for a room with a king bed). The hotel is 3 floors and only has about 7-8 rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. No elevator so you have to carry your luggage up and down to the rooms. When I checked in, I was given the key to a room. Upstairs to floor 3 only to find 2 people already in the room sitting on the bed watching TV with the door wide open. That seemed very odd to me. Hotel clerk did not know why people were in the room but gave me a key to another room. Turns out the rooms with the king beds are on the inside of the hotel and the only window cranks out into the hallway. There is no AC in the hotel so the room was hot as all get out. Now I understand why those other people were sitting in their room with the door wide open. There were fans in the room which we used but it was a hot and sticky night anyway. TV was a nice big flat screen but didn't work. The next morning after my wife and I took our showers, the room was hot and humid - like getting dressed in a sauna! So then downstairs to the "Continental" breakfast. This means water, coffee some bread to make toast and a couple of bagels. Very little cereal available. It was essentially non-existent. It was no wonder that Travelocity/Anchorage Downtown Hotel makes you prepay for this room!

Adequate but...

This is a small, dated though remodeled place. It was adequate but could have stayed elsewhere for the same or less money and a better experience. Breakfast was pitiful and not replenished. Room teeny, bed very squeaky, walls way too thin. Staff was very nice and helpful, especially Kathleen.

Cozy, cute and cost effective

I live in Alaska and need to stay in ANC when I have late flights a lot. This was an inexpensive hotel that I had never stayed at before. The staff were friendly, the hotel was cute and original and I will be staying there often from now on. For the price, it is five stars all the way!

Tiny room

Very small room, one window opened, small ceiling fan, too hot to sleep. Fortunately I had extra fan in car. No bolt or chain on door. Sliding shower door broken.

Nice alternative to the expensive hotels.

We stayed here one evening for the New Years celebration and it was a surprisingly cozy little gem. It was just a few blocks from the local pubs and alehouse. Overall the room was clean and staff were friendly. I would recommend requesting a room with outward facing windows. The place is still being remodeled by the new owners and the inner rooms have windows that face to the inside of the hotel. We had a room with a view of Anchorage though so we were happy. We also got a great deal on rates because it's the off season for tourism (we're Alaskan locals). Thanks for a great stay!

One Nighter

In town for a show & needed a place to rest. It was accommodating, convenient, & reasonable for the price. Probably stay there again if I need a place a night again. Only recommendation, have the carpet shampooed occasionally.

Dirty room in Downtown Anchorage

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: It needs a complete remodel with everything being replaced.
Location: It was walking distance to downtown restaurants.
The carpet was filthy. It hadn't been shampooed in years. The bedspread was old and I questioned its cleanliness also. There was trash and dust behind the nightstands which I noticed when I had to use a plug in. I was very concerned about the cleanliness of the sheets. They did appear to have been laundered. The bathroom appeared to have been cleaned. There were no water glasses only 2 coffee cups by the coffee maker.

You can't tell a book by the cover.

Pros: The personnel
Cons: Install an elevator or hire a bell boy.
First impression from back parking lot was bad - three floors with all open windows. Then found out there was no elevator and we were on the third floor! We immediately called around to see if something else was available - not. We decided to make the best of it and lugged our suitcases up the stairs - we are in our early 70's and had two weeks of stuff in there. The room was very small. But things started looking up when the desk clerk helped us with so many things and was so very pleasant. The bed was excellent and everything was very clean. Nice big, thick towels in the bathroom. A continental breakfast was included. We stayed two full days and all the girls behind the desk were great. The much lower price we paid for the nights we stayed compensated for the lack of an elevator.
