"What a Gem of a hotel! Best kept secret in downtown San Antonio....."
This hotel was recommended to me by my boss who has stayed there. She said she switched to this Marriott after staying elsewhere downtown and found it to be a great place. I stayed last weekend and what a hidden gem! Beautiful grounds, peacocks roaming about, and the hotel is beautifully decorated, clean, and the staff is friendly and hospitable. The guest rooms are very nice; upscale and have patios or balconies. Great location across from Hemisphere Plaza, next to La Villita and close to the Riverwalk without the noise and congestion. The parking was convenient and reasonably priced compared to other hotels downtown so I'll be back.

"The resort was better than Sea World!"
Everyone we dealt with at the resort was genuinely friendly, and because of the tip from the bellman, we tried the eco-friendly imported Mexican coffee from the cafe in 'The Patio', which we loved. The grounds are relaxing and beautiful, with many things to do with a 5-year old boy. The pool and lazy river were so much fun that we decided to spend the day there instead of a second day in lines at Sea World/Aquatica. The smores and movie outside were awesome fun! My single complaint was the little nickle and dime stuff that didn't fit with the feel of the resort. Why have free smores, but an ice cream setup that cost quite a bit? Why have bottles of water in the room that are very expensive, yet set up fresh cold coolers of water with paper cup dispensers attached all around the pool for free, refreshing sips of water? Just put out two free bottles of water in each room too! It's just a mental tweak to me if it's provided for free - I eat that up, even if it's rolled into the initial cost of the room. We didn't eat at the resort because of reviews I read saying the food quality didn't justify the high cost. I would have preferred to stay and eat there, which I might do next time. We did eat breakfast tacos from the general store. They were okay, but at $3.50/each, not anything to write home about. (They used store bought tortillas.)

"They even had an elevator attendant!"
I stayed here for spring break and it was so nice! It was within walking distance from the Riverwalk and all the cool things in San Antonio! The rooms were gorgeous and the beds were comfy! This hotel even had a really nice elevator attendant who would give out mints and tell fun facts about San Antonio! Even the carpets are infused with coconut oil! I highly recommend staying here!

"O.k., food pricey"
One thinks if they are staying at a Hilton they should get the best, that used to be how it was, not so much any more. The room was o.k. but not the best I've been in. I upgraded to a river view, don't waste your money. Yes, you get a "view" of the river but I also go a more than a view of a huge water tower and could barely see the river through the trees. I also upgraded to a King room thinking I would get more room, don't bother. There is no tub, just a shower in the king room. I might could live with that but there is also no door on the bathroom. Let me rephrase that, there is a door that slides across both the bathroom and the closet so you can either have the closet door closed or the bathroom door closed. Not acceptable, I shouldn't have to choose. There is also a timer on the bathroom light, I was using the shower on pulse to massage my aching shoulders after a long day and in the middle of my shower, the bathroom light goes out. Here I am, 6 am in the shower in the dark. I'm completely night blind so getting out of the shower and feeling my way over to the light switch was an adventure. The food and drinks were way overpriced. It never costed me less than $20 for breakfast, no matter what I ordered, that included a continental breakfast. I had one glass of wine at the bar and it was $12 without the tip, for a glass of California wine? Really? The Irish pub was no better. The hotel is in a good location, right in the middle of downtown and close to everything. I stayed in another hotel downtown on a previous trip, paid less for the room, had a suite and paid less for food. The room was clean and the staff seemed friendly enough. I loved the fitness room but the pool was a joke, there weren't enough chairs unless you got there very early, I think there were only 4 or 5 up there. All in all it was just o.k. not what I've come to expect from a hotel of this price.

"Would stay there again"
Quick summary: A bit run down, lacking in REALLY late night parking (ie: after 2am return) - but clean with fabulous staff. My stay was 2 nights and while the hotel itself is a bit older, the staff were amazing. We did have a couple issues in the room itself (couldn't get on the wifi (though I only tried for about 15 minutes, it may have been 'pilot error'), bedside clock buzzed if any electronics were placed near it, one light was very 'fussy' and often wouldn't come on at all) - the building itself is a bit run down, but clean. While the room was not ready at the time I was checking in, staff was apologetic and on it before even handing me my keys. I had a package shipped to myself a week before my trip (after calling and making sure that wouldn't be a problem), and they had it ready for me as well as a lovely (and clean) room with the AC already prepped pretty low. The front desk clerk (who was the person I had talked to the week before), Vincent, was just amazing with a wonderful sense of humor and patient with all (even the children pestering him for change repeatedly). Service had no problem with assisting with extra towel/shampoo needs, and the overnight clerk was great as well. Each time I needed something answered or assistance, they were spot on and seemed genuinely happy to be helpful. All in all, while there were some issues - the most important things were there - clean, comfortable, and staff willing to assist. I will stay there again in the future when in San Antonio.

"Tapatio Springs a must see"
I'm here for a special occasion and so far my visit has been fantastic. Whether you're here as a golfer, tourist, on business or passing through, it's a great bang for your buck. The new owners have really been working their tails off to get this place back in top shape and even with the drought we've had, the place looks amazing. Super photo ops too! Deer are everywhere. It's beautiful.
