Everything was clean and tidy and convenient. The only thing that needs attention is the A/C unit. Time for an upgrade to a Mini Split heater/air conditioning unit. This way the window is closed to keep the noise at a minimum from the street and the unit can quietly run above the fireplace. It heats and cools and keeps the room temp constant and is a lot more energy efficient. The old A/C is very loud and also allows the noise from outside into the room. The room has big swings in temperature so that was difficult to manage. Get that remedied and you've got a nice comfortable room!

This hotel is located ideally close to the Avon theater and all kinds of shops and restaurants. The drawbacks would be that we were on the second floor and could only take stairs. At our age, that was a little more challenging. Well, we may be on the older side of life. We do know how to operate television’s iPhone and various other pieces of technology. However, we did need assistance in how to operate the air conditioner as the remote was not working and we couldn’t see on the device where we had to operate it. And then we needed assistance with how to operate the television as it is not set up by default to broadcast any channels. You have to take it off its default setting and set it to Rogers. These sorts of things are best left with instructions if they are not intuitive.The complementary breakfast was minimal. Never received the code to get in so we were lucky a staff member arrived and she let us in. She also helped us up the stairs with our luggage. In leaving, we weren’t that fortunate. The room was small. One of those situations where I found myself digging clothes out from underneath other clothes because there really was no place to put anything. Overall, it wasn’t terrible by any means however if you’re used to a little more room, an elevator and a complementary breakfast that includes hot beverages, you might consider staying somewhere else.

Fantastic room with jetted tub, separate living room, fridge with complimentary drinks, snacks, Nespresso machine, kettle and tea, and free breakfast. Can't wait to visit and stay again. 1 block walk to all the shops and Lake Victoria. Nice to have parking with our room as well. Self checkin was so easy and convenient. Highly recommended!

I liked the vintage artistic decor. Very tastefully decorated. Very quiet and safe. Delicious continental breakfast! The view from my room an ugly enclosed roof with vents. Expedia offered a similar room but with a leafy street view. Not sure who was responsible.

Mixed review. You have to understand the building was built in 1875 so not a chain hotel and not today’s standards for a room. It was a Clean room, bed was comfortable, lounge area and continental breakfast were good. Air conditioning from a very noisy window air conditioner. One staffer we met was friendly and helpful. On the downside- some of the towels were stained and they threatened you with a $50 charge if you took the shower gel etc. It was last renovated for sure 30 years ago. The bathroom we had was a corner tub only with a handshower - no standing shower. Awkward as we were there for a wedding. Understand up front that this boutique hotel is not manned and very pricey for what you get. You have to communicate by email only and they don’t indicate that cancellation is 7days beforehand! The parking needs to be paid in advance with the booking so you actually get a parking pass or else you have to park blocks away from the hotel.

Nice old property building from the outside. Staff was kind and helpful. Lobby was nice but had limited seating. However, the room was dated (and the traffic outside was very loud because it's on a main street and next to a traffic light so we left after one night rather than stay the second night because we couldn't sleep in the room). The breakfast was minimal (much less than what we get at chain hotels that offer free breakfasts), no coffee offered except for in the room (and we couldn't figure out how to use the coffee machine and there was no real milk at the hotel, just the artificial cream pods so we went out and bought coffee). We paid over $900 US for two nights and it definitely wasn't the luxury property or stay that we expected. Historic, basic services, nice staff, noisy.

we absolutely loved our stay!! so charming, comfy rooms, lovely little lounge on the main floor, sweet and caring staff. the only thing we were missing was more food and drink options - mainly more coffee, tea, and milk, and maybe a little more variety of food? it would also be nice to have some proper cutlery instead of disposable wooden spoons. regardless, we really adored this little hotel!!
