Hotel José Régio
Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Portalegre. The staff were very helpful, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. The neighbourhood is quaint with lovely old cobbled streets with good shops, interesting buildings and good restaurants. Easy access to the local national park.

Forget parking. Regardless of what other reviews state, parking is a crap-shoot at best. If you’re like me and unsure about the meaning of European signs, you might accidentally violate parking laws. I have no idea what those consequences might be.

Boutique Hotel O Poejo
Staff at the O Poejo were outstanding, making sure all my needs were met and questions were answered. Breakfast was very good. The room was nicely equipped - the fridge was a welcome addition, as was the powerful air conditioner.
