The bay of Porto Miggiano is located in the town of Santa Cesarea Terme, one of the best destinations to spend the holidays in Puglia, located in the east coast of Salento.
La Torre Miggiano was probably built in the sixteenth century to protect the port and to the defense of the miners working quarries carparo stone and sent the segments throughout the county to provide useful material for construction.
Now these ancient ruined structures create a unique landscape, surrounded by clear water that flows into the bay of Porto Miggiano.

This is a picture of the "she-wolf of the sea" or "sea sickness" at Minervino tower. That's how the local fishermen call this rare atmospheric phenomenon. It takes place in particular climatic conditions at dawn, when a thick cloud of fog thickens the sea. The Minervino tower, so called because of the University of Minervino participated in its realization, is a work of fortification and defense from the east coast of Salento located in the municipality of Santa Cesarea Terme. Built in the sixteenth century, during the Spanish domination, was ordered by Charles V in response to the attacks of the Saracens.
