We stayed here for two nights before a cruise. It took us an hour and 10 minutes to take an Uber to get to our cruise port. It was very inconveniently located. Very limited food selections although the restaurant itself was nice. The area around the hotel was very rundown, and there were extremely loud parties on the so-called private beach. If you’re going on a cruise, you should definitely stay somewhere else.

The room looks recently renovated and was clean. This is a motel-style hotel (entering from the outside). Our room was facing the back (beach-side) so it was quiet, only the sound of the waves! We spent 6 nights there and it was secluded with a few places to eat nearby and great views on Old San Juan on the other side of the Bay. However, one absolutely needs a car and it was no problem parking at the hotel. The staff was responsive and courteous. We really enjoyed our stay.

Aqua’s staff was exceptional! The private beach and pool were fantastic! We were able to fit our family of 5 in a family room. The only thing we encountered was due to the humidity- the room had a slight scent of mildew. Keeping the fan on in the bathroom and the A/C helped with that. Overall Great Experience!

While the staff is very nice, the rooms are absolutely disgusting. The couch in the room had stains everywhere on it. There was a dried contact lens and hair all over the floor between the beds. Both beds had hair in the sheets and had crumbs/dirt in them. One of our pillows had lipstick and mascara smudges on it. Clearly fresh linens are not used in between guests.

Our stay here was brief. We stayed just one night between leaving our cruise ship and flying out of San Juan. Our room wasn’t ready when we got there, but the hotel staff was very friendly and quickly prepared our room. The rooms were a good size and there was a fridge in our room. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop view of the surrounding bay and beach. We loved that our room was just steps from the water. This was a nice place to spend our last night in Puerto Rico before heading home. We didn’t use it because this was after our cruise, but the hotel does have shuttle service to the cruise port. We would stay here again!

I don’t have experience with any other San Juan properties to compare it to, but overall it just wasn’t great. The neighborhood felt a little sketchy and the rooms feel like a Motel 6. The locks are the old fashioned kind where you get a metal key for the room — no key card system and no deadbolt. The lighting in the bathroom was over the shower not the mirror, so you end up doing your make-up or shaving in a dark shadow where you can barely see what you are doing. The bath towels are colored not white, and the bath mat had bleach stains on it. No comforter on the bed but just a blanket, which was a little scratchy and not comfortable. In the view of the beach from the restaurant, there is trash all over the beach. The restaurant had good food and drinks at least. I guess we should all beware of the properties that tout the pretty view of the ocean in their photo and not the property itself.
