Mermaid Cottage by the Sea was an absolute gem! The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach and close to downtown San Clemente, yet tucked away in a quiet, charming neighborhood. The cottage itself was spotless, beautifully decorated, and felt warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived.The space was well laid out and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing but also action driven stay. The kitchen was well equipped, and the extra touches like beach gear made everything so easy and enjoyable.This place truly felt like a home you wish would be yours. During our stay, we met so many amazing people in San Clemente, Dana Point, and Laguna Beach, and we completely got sucked into the incredible vibe San Clemente brings. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape or a vacation packed with action, there is so much to do and explore. Communication with the host was smooth, and everything exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Mermaid Cottage to anyone looking for a coastal getaway you won’t forget.

We loved our stay. The house has very high quality features. It was perfect for our party of 5. Very clean. Homey and Cozy with great lighting and water pressure. Excellent neighborhood, close to beach. You will love it.

Perfect vacation!

This property is fantastic! Clean, comfortable and beautiful. Lots of little extras provided to make your stay easier. Backyard great for kids to play. Short walk to the beach in a nice neighborhood. Good restaurants nearby. Would absolutely stay again!

Wonderful location and property

The Beach house is very nice with lots of things to do. We enjoyed the close walk to the wonderful Beach. All the needed equipment for beach was included for our group of 8. The only down side was unfortunately the whole week the neighbor was having construction work from 8AM to 5PM next door and the sound of masonry saw was very loud all day. Some of us had to be on-line during couple of days and the loud sound made it hard to relax and enjoy.

The house was beautiful in an excellent residential neighborhood. However if anyone has mobility issues, the stairs from the street to the beach are quite steep and may pose an issue.

Mermaid Beach House

The location is amazing! Short walk to the beach. You will need to walk down a VERY steep stairway followed by a sand trail that is slippery. I wouldn’t recommended this location of walking to the beach with young children, older people, or out of shape people. The neighborhood is beautiful! Each house is so unique. With this rental being in a neighborhood… the neighbors are not friendly at all and do not like that there is a VRBO near them so they were not nice. There is VERY LITTLE AND TIGHT parking. We have and truck and suburban and were unable to park them both in the driveway and there was not any available parking when my husband arrived. He parked halfway on the driveway and halfway on the walking path to the house to unload our luggage. The neighbors instantly took photos of his parking and sent to the owner of the house. I would not recommend bringing full size vehicles to this property. The house was very clean and well stocked. I would recommended the owners purchasing new cookware.The teffelon pans were beat up! To the point of us not wanting to use them. Puzzles had MANY missing pieces. The bbq had issues when we got there but property manager was able to get fixed. Overall a great house for large family. But needs some TLC. We will most likely NOT be staying here again because of the vibes the neighbors gave us. They seemed very annoyed and grumpy that we were there. This was our 2nd time staying here. Last time was a better experience.

Excellent house blocks from the beach

Loved our stay here! We had plenty of room for our large family. Kids loved the backyard and garage ping pong. Great location for us for our trips to the beach, and visits to Disney and Legoland. Would recommend!!

Home Owners and Property were Great but property management was terrible

Our stay started off rocky as the property management did not have the house cleaned and ready when we arrived on time. Also, property management did not provide good customer service as they rarely answered the phone. The owners were amazing and really helped make our trip wonderful! They helped us problem solve and make it right. The home is beautiful and had plenty of room for all 10 of us. I loved how much storage the kitchen had for us, as we cooked all of our meals. The backyard and fire pit were really nice. The beach was close by and we spent most of our week there or at the house. We would go back as we really loved our week at this house.

Terrible management, zero privacy

Had this place for a week and a family bbq one day here and they kept sending management company to come in house and count how many people our family had. Would definitely pass on this place. Zero privacy, mediocre accommodations, very very bad floor plan, terrible communication/service.

Great Beach Stay!

We had a great time at Steve and Lynne’s house. The house was just as described. Clean, comfortable beds, plenty of comfy furniture, a wonderful backyard and close to the beach. A wonderful time. Strongly recommend.
