We stayed here in March of 2025. We had a nice room with an ocean front balcony view on the top level booked through Expedia. About $170 a night. We booked another stay in June 2025 for September 2025, used the previous booking as the reference for our new booking. The price was nearly double $300 because it is in season. I was ok with that. We showed up on check in day, and they put us in a ground floor with only a deck view right on the street. I objected vehemently( told them it was BS) to the room choice and they blamed it on Expedia. Saying it was because we booked through Expedia and not directly with them. I told them we had booked through Expedia in March and had the room up on the top level and used the same reference for the booking.The room we got is a converted office, turned into a studio room. Scarcely decorated, with no view at all from the bedroom(a 7ft partition wall separates the foyer(they call it a sitting area) from the bedroom . The shower is a 40"X40" water closet and is on the opposite side of the room from the bathroom. The doors that enter the room are office doors with blinds inside the glass. It sits right on the street, and we had 3 incidences where people came trying to open our door as though it was the office. One woman actually walked in and asked us if this was the office.We will not be staying there again, but expect Expedia to contact us and refund us some of the room charges. I took pictures for reference. Terrible experience.

I am giving this property a 10 it’s probably very underrated, but it is the number one location in San Clemente right across from the pier. The rooms are very spacious and large and clean. The view is a 10+ unbelievable what a great value at the seahorse resort, thank you team.
Need I say more?
Please note that trains come thru on the tracks in front of pier for one minute at a time but add character to the pier.

We booked for two nights and were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and proximity to the pier. The partial ocean view was better than many hotels with full ocean views (the room was spacious with a full size refrigerator and nice kitchenette), with a direct view of the pier and beach. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The only negative comments I have are the parking, which is limited and extremely tight, and the narrow stairs which lead to the office and rooms. People with injuries or disabilities might have issues accessing the rooms because the hotel is built into the hillside (as all of them in the area are). Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Seahorse Resort.

We had an amazing stay at the Sea Horse Resort in San Clemente! The room view was absolutely stunning, with a breathtaking view of the ocean waves and the San Clemente pier. We also enjoyed watching the Amtrak train and the trolley pass by. The check-in process was seamless, and parking was a breeze. The ladies in the office were super friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was spotless and comfortable, and we loved the cozy atmosphere. However, we made the mistake of sleeping with the balcony door open and the fan on, which didn't quite work out as planned since the train noise woke us up in the middle of the night. Despite that minor hiccup, everything else was perfect. The resort's location is unbeatable, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. We even took the trolley to a popular Mexican spot, which was a fantastic experience. 5/5 stars The sound of the waves was like music to our ears, and we felt so lucky to be able to listen to it all night. We're already looking forward to our next visit and can't wait to explore more of San Clemente. Highly recommend the Sea Horse Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing coastal getaway!

Perfect location for getting to know the area. Right across the street from the pier, Amtrak stop and lots of places to eat plus a convenience store at the end of the block. Downtown is about a 25 minute uphill walk. The trolley stop is across the street which will take you several places within San Clemente.

Street and alley parking is tough. But the inside felt really cozy. We brought our dog and she loved it as well. Spacious and clean right next to the beach

Cute hotel and our room had a great view. Check-in was ok considering we had to access a lock box to get a key. Smart locks would be a great upgrade for this hotel since the office closes at 7pm. We had to meter park on the street because there were no spots left.

Amazing location and view!

I had a wonderful stay. A lot of space and my room had an awesome view of the beach and the pier. Was a quick walk to the beach and they offer beach towels and chairs for you to use. Also close to a small store and a couple of places to grab a quick bite to eat. It is a bit of an older property but it is well maintained. The staff is very friendly. I hesitate to review this too well because it’s a relatively small property and I don’t want it to sell out the next time I want to visit.

Beautiful ocean views across from Pier

What a wonderful vacation! We loved the spacious room and small kitchen, though we never cooked…there are too many great options for dining in the area. We especially enjoyed having breakfast at Frenchies Café on the lower level of our building and dinner at Fisherman's Restaurant on the pier. Having a dedicated parking space was a real treat. Our room was ocean view, so we loved sitting on the patio, people watching and hearing the waves crashing. You do hear the trains throughout the day, not at night, but they go through quickly. We definitely plan to stay here again!
