"We visited Canterbury for the first time to experience the Christmas markets as part of a ladies’ night away, with lots of festive activities planned. The original hotel I had booked fell short in terms of service, so I changed our reservation at the last minute to the Hampton, a decision I’m so glad I made! Even before arrival, communication was excellent. I was kept well informed, particularly regarding parking, and the service already felt warm and welcoming. On arrival, we were quickly accommodated. Louise went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and settled, which made a real difference. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided a great night’s sleep. Despite being located on a pedestrian road, the hotel was quiet, with no noise or disturbances on our floor. The location was fantastic for accessing the Christmas markets and local shops. Breakfast was satisfactory, with an average selection and quality. The waffles were a highlight, along with the fresh fruit. The hot chocolate was very popular with the rest of the group. Fried eggs would have been a great addition to the menu. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Every member of staff we encountered was polite and pleasant. "Stayed for 2 nights on Sat & Sun 6-8th December. We were greeted with a very busy pub but extremely attentive staff who could not do enough to make us feel welcome. The room was well furnished with a retro vibe. If I am being over critical, I would say that the carpet in the room could do with a clean and the bathroom needs a bit of an upgrade. Having said that, apart from those minor issues, the room was very clean and comfortable. We were accommodated with dinner reservations despite not pre booking and the pub being very busy. The food on both nights was outstanding, as was the breakfast. The pub is very dog friendly and we were very comfortable having dinner with our dog which is a very important thing for us. Would highly recommend the Duke William for a good old fashioned pub with very comfortable accommodation and top notch dining. "
