Oldcastle Hotel & Travel Guide
Oldcastle has just one hotel. So if you'd like to stay close to Oldcastle's main area, make reservations early.
While Oldcastle doesn't lay claim to a massive list of hotels and apartments in the heart of the downtown area, Rockfield B&B should be handy enough to be suitable for the flexible traveler.
The Mullingar Park Hotel is located 18 miles (28 kilometers) from the center of Oldcastle. Another option is the Radisson Blu Farnham Estate Hotel, Cavan, which is located 19 miles (31 kilometers) away. Alternatively you could check out the rates and amenities at the Cavan Crystal Hotel or the Annebrook House Hotel.
If time allows, you could discover more of the sights of East Coast and Midlands. Travel to East Coast and Midlands's castles and old towns. Anyone with a love for the outdoors could also leave time to admire the region's beaches, coastal plains, forests and rivers. Fun-loving visitors might also enjoy mountain biking, mountain climbing and hiking in the region.
Navan is 20 miles (36 kilometers) to the southeast of Oldcastle and boasts Hill of Tara and Bective Abbey. Some Navan rooms include the Ash Cottage and Ardboyne Hotel. Or, stay the night in Donore, 30 miles (49 kilometers) to the east of Oldcastle, where you have the options of the Newgrange Lodge - Hostel and Dalys Inn. The Bru na Boinne Visitor Centre and Dowth are some of the most frequented places to explore while in Donore.
Before you and your traveling partner leave Meath, make sure you are able to join crowds watching some local teams. Make your way to Croke Park, located southeast of Oldcastle. Book a hotel surrounded by the action at the The Shelbourne Dublin, A Renaissance Hotel or the InterContinental Dublin.
For those travelers traveling via Dublin Airport, you may choose to book a bed at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin Airport, or Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport Hotel, which are each a short distance away.

Cavan Crystal Hotel
"Stayed at the Cavan Crystal Hotel for a couple of nights recently and had a mostly positive experience. The hotel itself is in a convenient location just outside Cavan town, with easy access to local amenities. The pluses: The rooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained, which made a big difference after a long day. The beds were comfortable, and the overall standard felt like a solid 4-star property. What really stood out was the staff—they were genuinely helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to assist with anything we needed. From check-in to recommendations for dinner, the service was excellent and added a warm, personal touch. The downsides: Unfortunately, our toilet had a persistent leak that wasn’t fixed despite reporting it, which was frustrating. More significantly, there was no air conditioning in the room. During our stay it got quite warm, and opening windows helped only a little. A working AC unit would have made a huge improvement, especially in the summer months. Overall, I’d still recommend the Cavan Crystal Hotel for its cleanliness, helpful staff, and nice facilities like the pool and restaurant. With a couple of maintenance tweaks, it would be even better. Would stay again if those issues are addressed"
