Here's a draft review based on your experience: Title: Disappointing Stay at RIU Ocho Rios Rating: 1/5 My recent stay at the RIU in Ocho Rios was a significant letdown. The check-in process was painfully slow, taking around 2 hours due to the reception staff's lack of efficiency and apparent prioritization of chatting over attending to guests. Each check-in seemed to take 30-45 minutes, and the customer service desk was largely unmanned and ineffective. The room itself showed signs of wear, with cracks in the walls, insufficient outlets, and air conditioning that was set too low. The cleanliness was also questionable, with sand in the sheets. I had to request assistance multiple times, and even then, issues weren't resolved. The broken ice machine on my floor was never fixed, and the front desk's response was dismissive. The food was average but repetitive, although the buffet and restaurant staff were courteous. However, the reception staff's rudeness and dismissiveness overshadowed any positives. With many new staff members, it seemed like they were still getting the hang of things. Given my 25 years of traveling to Jamaica and staying at various resorts, this experience stands out as the most unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and won't be returning.

Staff was non existent and didn’t do anything if you had a problem. The check in process is the worst of any resort in the Caribbean. Be prepared to be in line for over 2 hours to check in. Each person takes 15 to 20 minutes for some reason. Blood on my sheets when I checked in. Nobody cared. Food was ok. Deserts are the crappy cheap fake cakes and pastry you get at Chinese buffets. Fish was raw in the middle one night (have pictures of all of this). No atm on the property. They instruct you to walk to another hotel to get cash out? When I did need change they can’t break a $100 bill. What kind of resort can’t break a 100? Half the resort is calm and peaceful with an infinity pool. The other side has crappy dj’s at the pool making your room shake. The whole resort has a carnival cruise line vibe (all party no relaxing). I understand that’s what some people want but if I pay to go to the Caribbean I want to relax and have a drink on the beach. If you lose the plastic bracket they give you during the stay.. it’s a $250 fee. Lots of issues with the stay! Not sure if I would return if it was free.

Our checking process was somewhat slow since we had to wait almost an hour to get into our room. We had issues with outlets not working. The outlet by the mini bar was lose and would work intermittently. On one side of the bed the USB port didn’t work and there was no outlet to charge the cellphones. The bed was super comfortable, the food was amazing with a superior variety of foods. Even picky eaters can find something to enjoy. The staff worked really hard and were always willing to accommodate us. I ‘d like to suggest that you serve kids portions at the Italian restaurant to avoid waste. Longer hours at the kids play area would have been great.

I love that the hotel is clean and the staff members are personable and professional. I absolutely loved the nightly entertainment, the performers are gret at their job, best performers so far out of all the hotels ive visited.

There were many great food options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Activities every night we were there which was very enjoyable for everyone including the children. I recommend this resort.

No one cared!

Our stay was tarnished. We were held in the lobby for 6 hrs after I already paid for my trip and I have a receipt. They said their system says babies, while my receipt and payment shows children and my boys are 9 and 10. I paid for 4. Now they made pay $800 dollars more and the put me in the same room that they said was for 2 adults and 2 babies. Someone made a mistake But no one wants to fix it. I was let down by hotels.com because they took my payments.

There were no security personnel or security cameras throughout the resort. Very unsafe for a female. We were approached by 2 random men who claimed to stay at the resort. We stayed together as a group because we felt super unsafe.

The Front Desk Employees were very nice, professional and knowledgeable. Ms. Sabrina was great whike hosting her pool game, she was very funny. She's a big asset to the resort. All the shows were nice accept the Michael Jackson impersonator. Restaurants weren't too accessible unless you make an appointment days ahead of time. The food was nothing to brag about. Most of the workers or employees walk around looking mad or upset.
