We really enjoyed Cozy and Crooked on the Cliff. The little house is older. but we felt right at home. Quiet and peaceful with a view of the mountains. We especially enjoyed the front deck which was fenced in so that our dogs could be out there with us. I loved the earthy vibe it had, pictures of Morel mushrooms, books about reptiles, and lots of cool rocks. Close to Sandstone Falls. The views are stunning and would be just as beautiful in the fall! Thank you for the peaceful visit.

Great chill vibe and cozy

Our stay was awesome on the cozy cliff. Karen is an excellent host as well as Maisy (cute resident doggo). The disco shower was fun and the house had all the amenities we would need and more. Definitely would recommend a stay here, the art work alone is super cool. Thank you!

Crooked and Cozy

Comfortable, cozy and peaceful. I was able to sleep soundly, which is usually a problem when away from home. We enjoyed the views around the property, the night sky and the wildlife. It was nice hearing the rapids from the river and the passing trains. Karen was approachable, easy to talk to and accommodating. Thanks! Beautiful area!

Peaceful and Central Location

I can't say enough great things! This little cabin was so peaceful, exactly what my dogs and I needed! The place is old but well maintained, just what you would expect in a mountain cabin! The yard was cut and easy to walk my dogs in! There is a fire pit and grill, we didnt use them because my one dog is older and gets cold easily. The location is superb! If you want to check out the activities to the north, easy! Same with activities to the south! We got in 3 good hikes over 2 days. Karen was incredibly easy to communicate with! We will be back for sure!

Living in the hills of WV

Once booked, I had nothing but great communication with Karen the owner. She left a lovely note about the history of the home and how it has been in her family since it was built. It was built in 1902 and is an older home, but it gives a great feeling of what it is to live in the hills of West Virginia. Her Mom welcomed us and visited to make sure we had everything we needed. Such a lovely woman and a veteran made our visit even more special. If you want to stay in something modern, this would not be a great option for you. However, if you love history and old fashion way of living, this is a great place to stay. You can not go wrong with the Karen or her mom Gwen. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Best. Host. Ever.

This is the most at-home place ever! I can’t say enough about this host-she’s more than accommodating, prompt with replies, caring, goes above and beyond all expectations to make her guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and accommodated. And, when they say you are part of their family-they mean it! The host’s momma is so precious is being just one of the many bonuses! If you didn’t get what you needed at your stay, then it’s because you didn’t ask! Love them! They are my new friends and they’ll be yours, too, once you stay there! And wait-Maisy!-the property pet, is the sweetest thing ever! There are more little surprises in store for you and your family so I won’t spoil the fun. Easter eggs all over this property!! I can’t wait to come back. Karen, Momma, and Maisy-thank you! You guys are the very best! ~Maura, William, Winston, Ghoulie. 💕

Disappointing

Rental wasn’t ready. Booked over a month in advance. Waited a half hour in the rain while she carried garbage out after driving 6 hours in the pouring rain She put a quilt on the driveway so we wouldn’t get a flat tire We arrived well after check in time Bugs in house after dark- because heavy duty extension cord running out the window to her “tiny house wouldn’t allow window to close NO privacy. Porch looks directly at her house with tons of construction debris. Fenced yard is basically a dog run with patio furniture and a grill. Cushions were soaking wet Two small kittens were either under the car, trying to get in the house or crying at the window driving our dog insane. Her clothes including underwear were in the dryer. A pair of leggings found stuffed in the couch. Drawers removed from dresser. She said she just uses it as shelves Train crossing directly below so loud whistles until 10 or 11 at night Pluses- great location off of I-64 if you don’t mind constant freeway road noise Allows dogs Well water doesn’t smell Really beautiful setting surrounded by mountains Her Mom was sweet My first experience with VRBO was not a positive one.

First of all Karen is an excellent host and is very easy to communicate with, and she answers emails almost immediately. The house does sit up on a cliff above the RR and the New River, however, in Summer you cannot see the trains or the river. Maybe in early Spring or late Fall when there are no leaves on the trees the view is amazing, but in Summer, all you see is trees. The trains were not a problem as they did not run during the night. However, driving up that narrow steep road and driveway lane is an adventure! The house is old and quirky (yes, the floors are crooked!), and needs some updates, but was clean, the water is excellent tasting, and the little waterfall creek behind the house is charming. The property is on a wooded hill, so exploring is difficult, but there are many designated cleared trails in the area in NRGNP and state parks, many with waterfalls. The kitchen was adequately stocked, but could use some new items. (I'm actually sending her some essential baking and cooking tools-- measuring cups, spoons, bowls.) The washer and dryer is a plus as I hate packing dirty clothes to bring home! We sat on the front porch and on the deck/patio to relax after one day at WV Renaissance Festival and 2 days of hiking waterfall trails. The only serious problem we had was with the rental agency, not Karen, but she straightened it out to our satisfaction.

Cozy and lovely

Karen was so wonderful to book with. She was so incredibly friendly and extremely responsive to any and everything. We loved this cozy little house. Saw deer in the backyard one morning and sat under the stars with the fire one night. The night sky is incredible. The best part was Karen allowed us to bring our 3 dogs and they had so much fun exploring the New River Gorge area. We loved getting to meet Maisy too. The friendliest dog around! We’ll definitely plan to come back here.
