Very pretty area, nice golf course, attended a wedding and very nicely done. Spent the night and was disappointed with the room in the executive suites. I really like coffee in the morning and a clean working coffee maker would have been nice. Porch outside the room should have been cleaned. Would be nice to know where you could get ice. Just dissatisfied with room. It is really a nice place to have a wedding, would recommend it for weddings.

This resort exceeded our expectations! All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Everything was pristine from the lawn to the lobby. The food was excellent with great options for my husband and I as well as the kids! Having the shuttle was amazing. I loved parking the car when we arrived and not having to drive again until we left, especially since we are southerners not used to driving in ice and snow. We had a wonderful experience and don’t ever plan to stay anywhere else when we come to ski!

Best Choice for Beckley/Winterplace

Pros: Very clean, very friendly staff. Very comfortable and "homey" suite.
Cons: I'd have preferred the fridge be in the living room.
Location: Just outside of Beckley, a short drive to Winterplace ski resort.
There's no better choice for lodging in the Beckley/Winterplace area. The peace of mind of being within a guard gated community was reassuring, and it was obvious that the staff care about their guest's experience. When I arrived, on a chilly winter night, the fireplace in my suite had been lit, which made it nice and toasty. The suite was well equipped with wet bar, fridge, microwave, and two flat screen TVs. The bathroom was nicely outfitted with a jetted tub, nice quality towels, and fluffy robes. Breakfast was surprisingly good...continental breakfast items were available on the buffet and hot items were made to order from the menu. (I got the impression that hot items were on the buffet during busier times.)

You are correct, there are occasions, when our occupancy is low, that we will have the hot breakfast items made to order opposed to having them out on the buffet. Awesome resort - Terrible room.

Pros: Great location, beautiful setting, and many amenities.
Cons: Everything about the room could be improved. Nothing about the room was at a level one would consider acceptable in even a mid-priced hotel room.
The resort is absolutely breathtaking. A beautiful wooded area, amazing golf course, lake and hiking trails. The restaurant is better than average, the check-in and lobby area are above average and the staff is exceptional. But the room....well, it was worn, dated, smelly and not a good experience. But, I will post the pictures and let you decide.

Pretty nice place

Pros: We went to dinner at the sports bar in the clubhouse. As far as we could tell, it is not handicapped accessible. My wife struggled up the stairs.
Cons: Improve accessibility.
Location: There are many activities at the resort, the greatest being golf - if you are golfer.
Our "room" turned out to be an executive suite. That was a nice surprise.

Nice hotel in gated community

Pros: Nice upscale decor.
Cons: Quality of bedding.
Location: Plenty of amenities within the resort. Snow ski resort nearby.
Glade Springs is a beautiful resort, but we were extremely disappointed in the quality of the bedding. The advertisement stated: "The beds in these beautifully appointed rooms are legendary - with plush mattresses, dreamy pillows, and fine linens." We did not find the mattresses to be plush. Instead, they were as hard as a rock. The pillows were not "dreamy." They appeared to be until you laid your head on it, and then they felt like they were stuffed with sawdust and went flat. We did request extra pillows and stacked them to make them more comfortable. I did not find the linens to be fine at all. The sheets felt like they had a very low thread count and the blanket looked and felt like a sponge. Fright Night was going on (which I think is excellent), but the hotel parking lot was used for the Fright Night guests as well as hotel guests. We went out and were not able to find a parking spot anywhere when we returned. I think a section of the parking lot closest to the hotel should have been reserved for overnight guests. Glade Springs is a beautiful resort, and we would definitely consider staying there again. But after staying in many other upscale resorts, I found this to be one of the most uncomfortable nights sleep I have ever had.
