We thought it would be closer to the attractions and sights. Staff were less than helpful when checking out and needing transport for luggage...we had to organise ourselves. Not very willing to give extra pillows upon arrival and generally not very helpful. The room was a great size for 4, 2 seperate bedrooms, 2 toilets and lounge but we would prefer to be closer to main attractions/shops

Comfortable, welcoming and helpful. Lobby area with seats – relax and read helpful info sheets + Decaf coffee in lobby area Laundry area – able to borrow a laundry basket and the washing hanging racks were very useful. Great size room with kitchen area with a table and comfortable chairs – made it easy to relax and eat a meal together. Good size freezer + fridge. Loan of a toaster and umbrellas good too. Bathroom with 2 sinks and a shower/bath + change of towels good. Able to leave luggage. Clean and things working in rooms. Supermarket very close and were very helpful. Able to walk from/to Kyoto station or take the bus. Roof terrace + gym - hope to use if we return to Kyoto.

Terrific hotel. The kitchen was awesome and allowed us to have breakfast in our suite every morning. Service was excellent. Laundry machines convenient and three minute walk from a subway station across the bridge. Did i mention there is a supermarket across the street?

The best hotel we've had so far during our trip in Japan. All front desk staffs are helpful, friendly and professional, plus all of them can speak English which is great for non Japanese speaking guests like us. Large sized Rooms

It's hard to find a large hotel room to accommodate 5 people in Japan. The Mimaru was perfect. One of the largest rooms we've seen. Everyone had their own space and bed. The 2 toilets also made it really private and convenient. We ate at the restaurants around the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful with all of our questions. The gym, although small, provided all the equipment that we needed. The location was central to everything in Kyoto. We would definitely stay here again.

Yet another amazing stay at Mimaru for us! We’ve always used this chain of apartment hotel every time we go to Japan as they’ve all been excellent to stay and this Kyoto was no different! The property is more like a hotel but still has kitchen and dining table for the family room we stayed which was nice. Area around is super quiet and supermarket right next door at 30 seconds walk! Relatively close to Kyoto station to walk but bus and uber is quicker. Close to main shopping street also which makes this property a highly recommended to stay!

A good hotel in a good location. Bunk beds for kids and a second bathroom make it easy for a family. Easy walk to heart of city and lots of food option nearby including a 7-11 and Fresco 24hr grocery store. Kids loved it. Was a bit inconvenient not having basic necessities in the room such as coffee. As a coffee drinker it’s annoying to have to walk to reception just for some instant coffee first thing in the morning. Would have given the hotel 5* but they gave us inaccurate advice for train and bus tickets. We told them where we wanted to go and they sold us day passes for 1,100 yen (4,400 for 3 adults and 2 kids). When we got to the train station we found out the tickets they sold us weren’t for that train, we then had to pay cash for that train and other trains for the rest of the day. When we spoke to the hotel about it, their answer was “sorry, you should have read the fine print”. Given we bought the tickets on their advice, the right thing to do would have been to offer a refund or some sort of compensation for this. Lesson learned, do your own research, don’t trust advice from reception.

We're a family of five and the loft of 6 single beds was very comfortable for us. We love Mimaru! We had also stayed in Mimaru Tokyo. Both places are spacious and very clean. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. I was so touched by how kind they were. I had to send my 78 year old mother back by Uber to the hotel by herself from another city. She couldn't call because her phone wasn't working. The staff called AND emailed me to let me know she had arrived safely. The location is 3-5 minutes walk to transportation, grocery, dining. Super convenient! I will definitely stay here again.

The rooms are spacious, safe and convenient for families visiting Kyoto. The drier at this property are very inefficient and we ended up spending a lot just to dry a load of clothing.overall, this is a good property with friendly and supportive staff.
