"It is not what you would think. It is full of old naked people, some thinking it has healing powers. It is a 1950's building with a renovated foyer. The actual rooms are very dated. Enter at your own risk."

Make sure you plan ahead, as there are very few options close to Kushimoto's main area.
One of only a few lodgings within a 2 miles (3 kilometers) walk of the attractions of central Kushimoto, is the Kushimoto Royal Hotel.
You could also check out the Minshuku Wakatake along with the Hotel Urashima Honkan. The Minshuku Wakatake is located only 13 miles (21 kilometers) from central Kushimoto. The Hotel Urashima Honkan, can be found 13 miles (22 kilometers) away. The Yukai Resort Koshinoyu along with the Hotel Nakanoshima are two more Travelocity-listed bases around Kushimoto.
After you have spent some time in Kushimoto, put aside some time to see Kinki's other great offerings. Kinki has beaches, lakes and mountains. Commonly visited visitor sights are ruins and castles. Bold visitors can try their hand at mountain biking in this part of Japan.
Tenkawa is 50 miles (82 kilometers) to the north of Kushimoto and is home to Tenkawa Daibenzai Tensha and Mt. Misen. If you come to Wakayama, be sure to check out the Museum of Modern Art and Wakayama Castle.

"Good things: Excellent location - it just a few steps to the Shirahama beach, and a bus stop just outside the hotel. Great staff at the check-in counter, room is clean and okay. Bad things: It's a dated hotel, the room is clean but the hallway (3rd floor) is a little bit smelly. The traditional restaurant mostly serves local Japanese, I don't feel wellcomed during our dinner time. Also, there was nobody to open the sliding door at the restaurant exit when we leave, but they did for the local Japanese."
