Fiji Hideaway Resort and Spa
"We really enjoyed our stay at Fiji Hideaway. The rooms were spacious and tidy, with comfortable beds. We found all the staff to be super friendly and, as our stay progressed, we knew some of the staff members more and more. There were three kids in our group, aged 7, 8, and 12, and they pretty much lived in the pool, the waterslide, or playing around the resort grounds. It was awesome that they could safely move around and they jumped into kids club a few times where they were well looked after. Kids club was geared to younger children, and while they had a mix of activities the kids could join in, there was often no kids partaking in them. The resort is a bit past its prime and some parts of the resort need upgrading, but it is kept very tidy and otherwise well-run. There are plenty of opportunities to visit the local villages and school, and cultural shows in the evenings all mean that you feel connected to the local Fiji culture - it feels like a more ‘real’, down-to-earth place to stay than some of the higher end resorts. A lot of the staff are from the villages in the vicinity of the resort and you get a sense that the resort is an important part of the local community. We also really enjoyed the food from the Tandoor kitchen - the Indian chef there does delicious curries, with a daily rotation of specials from the tandoor oven, including excellent naan. All in all, it was a great place to settle in and unwind and have some qualityfamily time,m."
