Pros- cute establishment and friendly front desk. Free granola bars, crackers and fruit. A water hot and cold filling station. Nice swing with water view. Con- if you get a room close to road it’s like you are sleeping on the highway. Two nights of no sleep.

Nice setting on the gulf: easy walk to the water. No real beach (docks and ramp to put in kayaks or paddle boards, which are available), but nice chaises and hammocks to veg. Room was comfortable, with new vinyl plank floor. Comfy bed. Kitchen table very creaky. Bathroom needs work: lots of peeling from vanity and tight shower stall, though pressure is excellent. No place to unpack: very limited drawer/shelf space; would frustrate travelers staying more than a few nights. Nice touch: K-cups for Keurig, complimentary snacks in the office. Bring your own streaming device.

Retro 195O’s exterior, all the to the neon sign at the entrance. Felt like Lucy and Desi would be showing up. Rooms have been updated and modernized. Our room had a large screen tv with a nice suiting area, comfy queen bed, and a small kitchen area. Very clean. Small pool near road. Waterfront lounging area, with lounge chairs, shuffle board, kayaks, bikes, a dock. You could go swimming off the dock. Concierge nice, provided a bag of ice and some fruit and snacks on the office. Easy drive to eateries. A distillery and brewery across the road if you want to just walk. Would recommend for adults, I think kids might be bored with no beach and the small pool.

Nice staff, in the middle of everything in the keys, nice short walk or bike ride to Bayside Gourmet for lobster bisque and a great Cuban sandwich, and a short drive to Robbie's and a cruise with Sundance Water Sports on the "Blue", Excellent.

We had a great time at this resort. The amenities were perfect, kayaks, hammocks, snacks and don’t forget Felix the cat who made us feel more at home. My next trip I will book my full stay at LaJolla. It’s also walking distance to a few good happy hour locations.

Free upgrade!

We received an unexpected free upgrade to Lodge Bahia - a 4 bedroom home with its private beach area. The resort is so well kept and lots of activities to do right off the dock. My family enjoyed use of the free kayaks, snorkel gear and fishing gear- they even gave us free bait! Staff were all very kind. Highly recommend Islamorada in December.

The LaJolla is a throw back to motor hotels from mid last century. The facility is on the gulf side and has a gorgeous view from its small beach area. It has a lot of stuff for visitors, a shave the weather precluded our use. Islamorada is quiet, but there is plenty to do. It would be great in the summer, but only okay in the cooler winter.
