We were a late check-in. Nobody was at the counter when we arrived and had to wait 30 minutes for someone. Once someone came to get us a room, there was confusion as to what room we were getting, the one we had reserved was given to someone else earlier in the day. I understand that this is a tourist town but having uniformed security guards posted at each floor was a little weird. I asked and the guard said they were required to be there because of the groups of school children staying there. The overall accommodations were ok, the atmosphere was a little too "Disney" for me, everyone was pleasant to deal with but overall it just asn't what I was expecting from a Wyndham property.

Room for improvement.

I was put in a room that has a door connecting to another room. This made me feel unsafe in my room. The comforter, chairs, and couch all had stains on them. The person who checked me in didn't explain anything to me about Wi-Fi, breakfast, hotel amenities, or anything else. He did the bare minimum of checking me in without being rude. The locks in my room didn't work correctly so I was never sure if the bolts worked. I ended up putting furniture in front of the doors. Sometimes I had to swipe my keyboard multiple times to get it to work. Parking is way too far from the hotel and the lights in the parking lot often didn't work. This created an unsafe situation at night. The hotel lobby was nice. The conference areas served their purpose. The complimentary water in the lobby was nice to have since hotel air is always very dry. The toilet paper was way too thin. I ended up buying my own. It wasn't a great feeling to be greeted by a cannon as soon as I entered the door. And the hotel layout requires a lot of walking. It was easily 10 minutes to walk from my room to the elevator. I even saw a woman calling someone on her phone telling them she was late because she can't find the elevator. The hotel needs more signs that direct people to important places.

Convenient and comfortable

This was our second trip here. We have been stopping in Gettysburg on the way down and on the way back to an annual Virginia Beach trip and this has been our hotel of choice on both ends. The staff are friendly, the hotel is clean, and the historical aspects are great for the setting. Breakfast is delicious in the onsite restaurant and definitely worth the extra money for breakfast. The area is also very convenient and accessible to anything else you might need in Gettysburg. If there was any room for improvement I would say a fix to the ice machine on the 6th floor, but other than that, a great experience.

The wifi was very bad, we were told they were working on it. We had a king sized bed with tiny little pillows and worn out mattress. HBO was blocked on the cable, TV was a small flat screen on a desk. The refrigerator adjustment knob was broken and stuck on max, froze everything overnight.

Lobby was full of people passing around shots of alcohol and I was instantly overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana when I walked into the lobby. Refused to stay there as I was concerned what the rest of the facility would smell like or how the pool area was for my kids.

I've never been to a "5 Star" hotel/ motel, but this motel has got to be right there with any other 5 Star. Bar was open. Bartender was the best & breakfast & waitress couldn't be better. Oh, except for one thing. If you've never had scrapple ( some sort of breakfast "meat"), pass on it. Gotta be one of those food's you have to grow up with.
