Our room was clean but the decor and bathroom facilities were a little dated. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast. We enjoyed a meal in The Bistro. Plenty of room in the bar and other sitting areas around the reception area.

Great location in Fort William! We were thrilled to found it available but seemed to be too good to be true. The carpet was shredded worn down to the netting in high traffic areas. There were mould spores on the bathroom ceiling, the tub drain needed to be cleared because a short shower left the tub almost completely full. The wifi didn’t reach to our room and when I inquired about another option, reception promptly told me to “turn my phone off and on,” as I’m in my 20s that gave me a little chuckle. The overall room was run down - not just outdated. The bathroom ceiling and walls have cracked. The photos show a quaint older hotel with character, the reality was unclean and rundown. Very disappointed

Very small room. Toilet had no extraction fan or window. Shower was dirty in bits. Bits fell of tap in the sink (I put it back together). Had to ask for more toilet paper. At 7am no hot water for a shower. Breakfast wasnt a patch on the twice i had been to this hotel before.

Hotel was in a great location, plenty of shops, bars and eating places nearby. Our room was ment to be a superior double, the outlook was awful looking into other room windows, was a closed courtyard type, if you could call it that, bird droppings and feathers everywhere, not what I was expecting whatsoever from a superior room. Room was small in size, no extractor in bathroom so it was extremely uncomfortable when having a shower, the bed was comfortable and large, duvet just about covered the mattress, pillows were so uncomfortable, hardly any filling in them. Bar staff were friendly, front desk staff were quite sour. The ‘shop’ turned out to be two cabinets at entrance to bar area, which was fine but front desk staff didn’t have access to any of the items as it was the responsibility of someone outwith hotel who only came on a Tuesday apparently, so no use to us as we were there Friday-Monday. Hotel was quiet and reasonably clean so that was good. We will return to Fort William but unfortunately won’t stay at this hotel again sorry.

Hotel chosen for its proximity to the train station, this was the only plus point. The downstairs smelt of food. We had dinner at the Bistro on one evening, a bottle of unchilled lukewarm wine served in a wine cooler, we had to add ice to the glass. Lacklustre staff who are only interested in the coach parties that provide alot of their business. TV in room not tuned in, receptionist defensive and suggested we swop to another room (unsure if any other tv would work) but advised it wouldnt be a room of the same 'standard' we had paid for. Dining room is filled with circular tables from the coach parties, they were being set up for the evening meal while breakfast was still taking place. It felt like we had stumbled into a conference not a hotel restaurant. The corridors to the rooms are long and there are steps. Room 219 had a revamped bathroom, TV was working after the 2nd day (we stayed for 3 nights). Mattresses on beds were 'tired' and need replacing. Curtain pole would benefit from some polish to help with closing the curtains. Hotel allows luggage to remain at the hotel after checkout (our train journey was at 6pm) but it remains in reception in view of the front door, there is no secure left luggage facility. I am sure there are hotels in Fort William that enjoy having guests to stay and want to make their holiday as enjoyable as they can, sadly The Alexandra isn't one of them.

Rough night of sleep but location is good.

Check in was fairly quick but little to no information given. Hotel really needs a coat of paint everywhere. Hallway to rooms is dark and walls are scuffed. Hotel room is ok, but again needs paint. The bathroom had a very nice new wall tile and fixtures, but the floor was old. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable and all three of us had terrible sleeps. Pillows were all the same and quite thin. Location is nice but the hotel property, front and back, is very unkept. Close to several good dining options and very walkable street. I don’t think we would book here again, just because of the beds. Expected a bit more for the price charged.
