stayed one night here while driving long-distance and was genuinely impressed. The room was extremely clean, including the bathroom, and the shower worked properly with good water pressure and temperature control — something that matters after a long day on the road. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well. I also appreciated the small details: local artwork featuring Emporia instead of generic hotel prints, a tip envelope for housekeeping (a thoughtful touch I don’t see much anymore), and having both liquid soap and a small bar soap available. Many hotels promise a good night’s sleep, but this one actually delivered. A solid, comfortable stay, especially if you’re tired and just need everything to work.

The front desk gentleman acted as if receiving us into the hotel was a major inconvenience. He was abrupt and stern and almost accusatory when asking “you don’t have any animals with you now do you?” He seemed a weird choice to represent the facility as the first nonsmiling face you see.

Check in front desk staff was extremely unprofessional; I couldn't determine if they actually worked there, or if it was just someone's adult child filling in. Check out staff only a slight improvement; cold interaction. My room ended up by the stairs, loud people coming and going. TV was nostalgic, reminded me of the first flat screen I purchased! Room was clean. Bed pillows tiny, I recommend bringing your own!

Room was clean and tidy. Bed was very tall but comfortable. Shower tub combo was very slippery. Breakfast was steamed grey sausages and under cooked potatoes. Bread choice ok , waffles smelled good but did not eat. Brewed coffee was good. Overall breakfast was not very appealing.
