Their self parking is presented very poorly. We were given a hand drawn map from the front desk. We ended up getting a $50 parking ticket from the Durango Police for parking exactly where the front desk staff instructed us. The hotel manage took no responsibility and acted like it never happened to other guests.

The whole hotel is in fabulous condition despite its age. The Victorian Era decor feels authentic and the memorabilia throughout the hotel is very interesting. If you want the experience of the Wild West as it was back in its time, this hotel is the perfect place.

Staff was very helpful. The rooms are full if antiques. I was glad that the bathrooms had reals bars of soap, since I was tired if the liquid dispensers. It was a wonderful stay.

If you’re into western history and always fancied yourself as an extra in a Butch Cassidy, this is the place for you. It calls itself historic and it is. Rooms are furnished in a kind of “early bordello” style which may, or may not, appeal to you but could possibly do with a bit of a freshen up for the price charged. Nonetheless, it’s a refreshing change from the Hilton Formica look and is perfectly comfortable. The bustling bar has live music and it’s a great position for strolling up and down the picturesque sidewalks of Durango.
