This place is great if you’re just gonna chill there the whole time and don’t mind 20 minutes drive for any real options outside of a couple restaurants. It’s not very big, but it was nice that it wasn’t busy and we got the pool/ hot tub to ourselves. Bed wasn’t very comfortable. Hot tub timer was annoying and didn’t work well, breakfast was not the best. I just think it was a bit overpriced but I’m not unhappy with my experience

The property was very nice and the staff was as well. The area around the property is not so nice but the reception staff said they have security staff patrol the grounds overnight. The property is clean, the areas around the property have lots of garbage strewn everywhere.

Incredibly rude staff at Onsen

Due to the fires in SoCal, we wanted to change our trip dates. Tried to change online, however the hotels.com website was not working correctly, so I resorted to calling. Hotels.com team tried to help out, but the Onsen hotel staff was incredibly rude to your team! They thought I was on hold, but I could hear the entire conversation! The Onsen staff kept trying to pretend like they couldn’t understand the slightly Indian accented, perfectly good clear English that your hotels.com staff was speaking. It was really rude and racist. Onsen finally said we needed to speak to a manager, but management refused to pick up or call back for 7 days and it was finally too late. Since I was going to be charged anyway, I decided not to cancel my reservation, so the hotel could not double dip. It was clear they were trying to keep my money AND resell the room. And just to be really clear… hotels.com staff were very patient and kind and did everything they could. And I was very patient and kind when I tried to speak to the hotel directly. My English had no accent, so I guess they’re just dismissive and rude and unresponsive to everyone. I will not ever book that hotel because I heard just how rude they were to your hotels.com staff. I will book hotels through hotels.com again, and I appreciate your compassionate and hard-working team.

Nowhere on Expedia is it mentioned that this hotel is adults only. My son and I went to check in, and not only were we turned away (exhausted after 8 hours of driving) even after staff acknowledged the failure being on their part, but I was also told I couldn’t be given a refund bc “only the owner can do that” and she was not on the property. Listen, I am a business owner, too. I understand how systems can be challenging to navigate at times. But when we make mistakes, we still are beholden to do the right thing. I am incredibly disappointed in the owner of this establishment. May they learn from their mistakes and do better next time.

This place says it has a spa (which included ridiculously priced spa treatments) however I have no idea where that was. Workout room had 2 pieces of equipment and 2 yoga balls, one of Which was partially deflated. The walls and cieling on bottom floor are super thin. The person upstairs started stomping around their room endlessly at 6am and the room next door had a late night visitor that I’m pretty sure was a sex worker lol which is fine I guess except she was crazy loud (you get what you pay for though?) There was an empty lot with trash and just debris next to the hotel with a homeless encampment nearby—which didn’t bother us but some people may not like it. The staff however was absolutely wonderful. Really great customer service and friendly. I would not stay here again though.

I’m honestly shocked at how well this property was reviewed across several platforms. First off we arrived a few minutes after 3 to find an unattended front desk. Another guest let us know they had also been waiting and that the manager should be there shortly. We were finally checked in and taken to a room that had not been cleaned. The staff member then took us to another room, however it was not the right size. We were then told the king room would be ready in 30 minutes. We were not checked on and had to repeatedly ask for us a status update while several other guests were checked in and showed to their rooms. After 45 minutes, we were shown to our room that had wet floors and was missing bath products and linens. The manager did offer us a bottle of wine only after we had to return to the front desk for these missing items. We were shown a parking lot and entrance close to our room but not told the entrance may be locked or given a code. So after walking our dog we were locked out for 15 minutes, because the front desk was once again unattended at 5:30p. I’m glad I booked via Expedia as I saw the rooms were going for double the price on their website, and this place is not really a hotel, it’s a motel. Also given how small the place is I’m not sure where the spa could possibly be even though services are offered. Also there were no towels at the pool.

“Relaxing Getaway”

We recently enjoyed our second weekend stay in a month at the Onsen Hotel and Spa in Desert Hot Springs, and it was just as delightful as the first. The hotel staff were professional and incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean and well-maintained, with a lovely patio that added a nice touch of relaxation. The mineral hot springs were absolutely wonderful—soothing and rejuvenating. We also appreciated the peaceful, adults-only atmosphere, which made the experience even more serene. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!

Wonderful weekend in Desert Hot Springs!

Here’s a polished review for your stay at Owen Resort: Wonderful Stay and it was an amazing experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel was impeccably clean, and I appreciated the attention to detail in maintaining such a pristine environment. One of the standout features for me was that it’s an adults-only resort, which made for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and recharge. I can’t recommend this place enough and look forward to visiting again soon!
