We stayed for 5 nights with some friends, staying in 3 rooms. Myself and partner stayed in the room with rooftop access. Dogpound Hotel is a very convenient location, a couple of minutes walk from Monistiraki metro station (which goes from the airport), and near to many tourist sites, places to eat, etc. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and all rooms that we saw were similarly modern and clean - one had balcony access with a table and hammock (also lovely for chatting with friends). There was an issue with the hot water not working on the first morning (unrelated to turning on the boiler), but they fixed it the same day and no issues for the rest of our stay. The breakfasts were amazing. We all tried different options and were happy with all of them, in particular, the overnight breakfast bowl and the egg/salsa were most popular. We never explored anywhere else for breakfast as we really enjoyed the food here. The main concern for our room was the stairwell didn't leave much space on one side of the bed, making it difficult for the person on that side to get in and out of the bed. It also made accessing the storage area for clothes difficult, so I wouldn't recommend this room for those with mobility challenges (perhaps the balcony access option might work better).

Noisy rooms but great location and breakfast

The location and decor was very very good! Being only minutes away from the metro was very handy. The breakfast was delicious, it’s a shame it started at 8am as had to miss it two days out of three due to tours and early ferries. The rooms were not soundproofed at all! We could hear everything going on in rooms and the corridor, I didn’t get a full nights sleep the whole time I was there due to the noise ( I don’t think people were being exceptionally noisy, it’s just that the walls were so thin!) We also found check in not very easy. The instructions before hand were great but it wasn’t clear where ‘reception’ was at all when we got there and ended up walking around lost in the hotel for a while. If you’re a heavy sleeper or have ear plugs I would have no hesitation in staying, however for the noise alone we wouldn’t recommend

Clean and well furnished hotel in the heart of the city. Noisy at night, as expected, as the road is a thoroughfare for people and cars in the middle of the city. Check-in and checkout process was easy.

Although it was tricky trying to navigate with the multiple luggages on a narrow street, hotel has a good vibe once we got in. Marina was very helpful once we got in, got an early check in. Place has an elevator which helps with luggages. Place was clean well-lit and well decorated. AC, fridge and water heater was a huge plus. Conveniently located near restaurant, bars, shops, and about 15-20 minutes walk to the Acropolis. Would book again if Im at the area.

This was our first visit to Athens. The location was perfect and in close walking distance to all the main attractions. Marina and staff were very friendly and accommodating! The space was clean and well maintained! We especially enjoyed the sourdough sandwiches at the Proof Nanobakery in the lobby!

the location is the best! one min from the metro and monostraki square. there are bars, restaurant just s few steps from the hotel. the stuff was very nice, everything we asked for, they were happy to serve. marina was vey kind about everything. very recommend!!

This hotel turned out to be a complete nightmare. I booked this hotel for 5 nights. I left after my 2nd night . I forgot my key card inside my room when I went to get some food late at night. When I returned I could not get inside my room and there was no staff on duty to help. I ended up being stranded in the lobby/kitchen area over night. It wasn’t until 7am until the owners husband let me into my room. I didn’t sleep the entire night. I also never had hot water. I took cold showers. The a/c heating unit was also not functioning. The breakfast was also very poor. I requested a refund from the owner which was denied. She said they were knew and trying to worst things out. Not my problem! After leaving them a bad review, she then threatened me with her lawyer to remove my review. Unbelievable!

Hip Hop stay in Athens

We stayed three nigths at the Dogpound in February. The hosts are very friendly albeit not always punctual. On the first morning the person responsible for breakfast arrived late for breakfast service. Breakfast is limited to 4 choices, everything however is tasty. Because we stayed in winter and the communal area is open to the street 24/7 the place was cold hence we had to sit with coats while munching our food. The rooms are generous and have everything you need for a comfy stay. The only way of heating the rooms is by using the aircon in "reverse". Unfortunately this stopped working on day 2 when the temperatures dropped in Athens. My room was facing the street and you want to be aware that Greek people can be a noisy bunch at night. Bring earbuds ! Overall nice stay but I reckon if we come back we would not stay for more than 1 night or go elsewhere.

The hotel is located above a pizza place. The rooms are unique, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The pizza and breakfast is delicious! The location is perfect and within walking distance of everything you’d possibly need or want to see, or to transportation to get you to anywhere that’s beyond walking distance. The staff is extremely kind and proud of this place and I don’t blame them. They’re doing an amazing job! Thank you for ending our stay in Greece with hospitality, comfort, and kindness!

Recently renovated and very nice hotel room. Sound proof windows so you don’t hear the outside noise at night. Easy location to get to from subway station and close to everything by walking distance. Nous avons séjourné 2 jours mi-juin dans ce très bon hôtel, tout neuf et propre. Extrêmement bien situé, vous pouvez faire toutes les visites à pied ! Le lit est confortable, la salle de bain est grande et spacieuse. Marina nous a bien accueilli avec le sourire et nous a recommandé des restaurants à Athènes. Il y a le bar au rez de chaussée qui n’est pas encore tout à fait terminé, mais comme dit dans un autre avis, vu tous les bars et restaurants à Athènes ce n’est pas dérangeant ! A mon goût, il manquerait juste une machine à café, un sèche cheveux et disposer d’une bouteille d’eau dans la chambre et cela serait parfait !
