This is a great venue and the staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. Where issues come up is where the venue tries to be a pub, live music venue and accommodation. I recently stayed over a weekend, and the staff were attentive and the room tidy. Where issues arose were around the sound levels of life bands, the time they finished and the noise of customers near the accommodation area. While the live music is a major drawcard, I feel that guests need to be told that this venue (given its location) is likely to host live bands until late in the night on weekends. I had flown over for a family wedding on the weekend, but due to the volume of music (and the guests upstairs who were having their own party), did not have a restful and comfortable sleep. Had I been made aware of this in advance, it is unlikely that I would have selected this accommodation option. In addition, guests who sat near the entrance to the beer garden were noisy, and the smell of smoke pervaded the room and surrounds. As I mentioned, the staff were friendly and attentive, the room was clean and tidy, but accommodation felt secondary to the main business (and maybe it is) given the cost. In hindsight I’m not sure that I would recommend this venue for guests needing to be rested and alert after a couple of very ordinary night’s sleep.
