The Positives:We celebrated our anniversary here and loved the quiet, private neighborhood and beautiful canal scenery filled with wildlife. The kitchen was nicely updated, floors were very clean, the king bed was comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was strong. The host was also fantastic—highly responsive and supportive.Areas for Improvement:The home is quite old and small; anything more than two people would feel very crowded. Except for the kitchen, it requires significant maintenance: The Smell & Windows: There was a terrible odor of dirt/oldness upon arrival. We spent 40–50 on air fresheners and kept windows open to make it tolerable. The host warned us post-booking about well water odor, but this smelled like a property unopened for the season. The large windows were filthy, some wouldn't open/close, some lacked screens, and there was crumbling mold on the frames. Utilities: The property uses well water (not disclosed in the listing). The breaker repeatedly tripped when using a hairdryer and steamer simultaneously. The single living room AC unit struggled; we had to use our own mini fans to push cool air into the bedroom. Cleanliness & Upkeep: We found crumbs on the table, an old apple under the stained couch, a squeaky bed, a loose screen door, and a shower curtain instead of a door. The outdoor chairs were dirty and broken, leaving the patio unusable.Summary: Great location and host, but the house needs deep cleaning and repairs to justify the stay.
