Welcome to The Half, our cozy, detached, private casita at The Epic WPB, an experiential vacation rental, in a 1925 home on the National Register of Historic Places.

With a major renovation, in 2022, we offer one of the most distinctive, intimate, relaxing properties in Southeast Florida, for your next stay.

The Jazz Chef’s signature Key Lime Sublime cookies will greet you on the coffee table, at check-in.

Daily scratch-made baked/prepared breakfasts, and periodic weekend brunches in their dining room, on property, are offered by our sister company, TheJazzChef.com.

Swim in our Balinese-style pool. Relax in the Japanese soaking tub. Sun on the pool deck. For additional costs, you can: schedule a poolside massage; have lunch/snacks delivered to you; use the BBQ grill; or schedule a catered meal, on our dining patio, or in the dining room.

Walk to the Intercoastal. Short drive to:

The property has been a “superhost” as a vacation rental property with a 4.97 average for the last three years.

The Half has a kitchenette, with:

We offer a complimentary basic continental breakfast in your suite:

Continental: In your kitchenette, we stock yogurt, and The Jazz Chef’s signature Granola, or Jazz Chef Müesli, along with his complimentary daily fresh-baked goods, delivered, per your requests one item per day, created on premises. To drink we offer: Keurig® coffees from Lavazza® and Starbucks®; Nespresso® capsule coffees from Peets®, Costa Rica’s Britt®, and Starbucks®; There is a selection of Harney & Sons teas, honey, a small container of milk, sweeteners, and condiments.

If you have special dietary needs, please advise well before arrival, and we will work with you to accommodate them.

Stock additional snacks, quick meals from our brother biz, TheJazzChef.com, at additional charge(s).

LIVING ROOM/PULL-OUT COUCH

The cozy living room has a pull-out couch, a couple of comfy chairs, a small coffee table, and our TV Boat. Please notify us of the correct number of people to set up the pull-out couch for your visit. It is a twin, suitable for ONE ADULT, or two small children.

BEDROOMS

The Half offers two bedrooms with premium Casper® mattresses, and bamboo memory foam pillows. The master is a queen-sized bed, and the smaller room has a full.

Each room has small closets, night stands, multi-port AC/USB boxes to hook up your small portable electronic devices.

SAFE

There is a small safe in the master bedroom.

BATHROOM

The casita has one bathroom with a tub/shower combination. Hand-rails are installed. We provide bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner. You’ll find suntan lotion, mosquito repellent, and a few other essentials, in case you didn’t bring your own.

TV Boat, WIFI & TECHNOLOGY

Our flat-screen TV is connected to Apple TV, which offers service on DirectTV Stream™ (Cable TV), HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, Disney+, AppleTV+ and apps like YouTube, and Zillow.

If you have Apple equipment, you can also share from your device to the TV.

We offer 1 TB (Terrabit 1,000 Mbit) internet connection, and high-speed EERO™ “mesh” WiFi.

Bedrooms are equipped with Amazon Echo (Alexa) AI assistants with video screens, and quality audio.

There are multi-plugs that also have USB charger connections in the living and bedrooms.


HOURS

Pool:

Open: 7:00a - 9:00p. Pool is electrically heated in the winter, by sun in the summer. Open exclusively to guests of The Half.

The Main:

Dining Room - Available for catered meals from TheJazzChef.com’s teaching kitchen. Contact them to arrange.

Verandah - Open from 6:00a., to 10:00p., daily. High Tea available, for additional charge, 4:00p-500p. by reservation. Special events 5:00p. - 6:00p.


ADDITIONAL SERVICES

Patio/BBQ:

We have a small grill, open to guests’ use, for an additional fee, that includes plates, utensils, etc., adjacent to the pool.

Cooking Classes

Cooking classes, spice seminars, and other events with The Jazz Chef, and guest chefs, are available, during your stay, for additional fees.

Workspace

You can work in the library, dining room, veranda, or living room of The Main, during non-event/dining hours. A portable laptop stand can also be put into The Half, at your request, by the couch.

POLICIES/RULES

By booking, you agree that: you have read, and understood, and will abide by these policies; you will comply with our cast members, security service, and/or law enforcement to vacate the premises, if so asked.

NOISE

Outdoors:

We are located in a residential neighborhood. Our neighbors, 20 ft. away, on all sides. We ask, kindly, that you do not talk loudly, or play music, or other noise, outdoors, after 9:00p.

Indoors:

We ask that you be respectful of us, and our neighbors, and keep the volume down.

A Minut noise monitoring system is in operation in The Half. It monitors overall ambient VOLUME It does NOT listen to conversations, or record anything. Excessive noise will alert the managers. We will reach you either by text, phone, or in person, to address the issue.

We will remind you, during your stay, twice, of any noise issues. You agree, by booking, if we have to remind you a third time, that the management, at their discretion, can terminate your reservation, and evict you, without further compensation, or consideration, to you, and that you will vacate the premises without issue.

SMOKING/VAPING POLICY

There is absolutely NO SMOKING OR VAPING of ANY SUBSTANCES allowed in The Epic’s indoor spaces, at any time.

If the rooms smell of smoke, you will be charged a $300.00 cleaning fee.

You may smoke outdoors on the pool patio deck. Ashtrays are provided. Cigarette butts, or other smoking paraphernalia, left anywhere in our outdoor spaces will be assessed an $85.00 cleaning fee.

You agree, by booking, to be bound to these terms & conditions.

PET POLICY

We except a limited number of pets. DOGS and BIRDS ONLY. Apologies, but no cats, reptiles, or exotics, please, due to past problems.

Please fill out the pet permission form, and submit 24 hours prior to arrival: http://rebrand.ly/EpicPetForm. Booking on VRBO you will NOT be subject to the Pet Deposit, as they collect damage insurance.

NUMBER IN PARTY NOTIFICATION/FOURTH PERSON POLICY

The rate remains the same for parties up to three (3) people. We collect a small additional charge to cover amenities for additional guests to a five (5) person max. This is to cover the extra sheets/cleaning/hospitality.

If your party changes in size, even temporarily, overnight, you are required to notify us by text/phone at 561.515.0084 prior to the first night’s stay where this will occur. We will collect the fourth person charge prior to your departure.

Failure to notify may result in the collection of double the additional fee, per person, or the forfeit of the remainder of your booking, at the discretion of the management.

HURRICANE/SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

Florida is subject to hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical storms, water spouts, and other high-wind events. Hurricane season in Florida runs from June to November, with the peak months being August/September.

BOOKINGS:

If The Epic WPB is under a tropical storm/hurricane watch where the “incidence cone” is expected to remain focused on our geographic region, with projections of a category strength of one (1), or more:

• You may cancel the remainder of your stay, at no penalty to you, at seventy-two (72) hours prior to landfall;

• At forty-eight (48) hours prior to your arrival, if we remain in the incidence cone, we will, regretfully, have to cancel your booking. Our buildings are wood-frame/stucco, and not secure enough to be safe in a high-wind event.

For upcoming reservations, weather-related communications outages may impact our ability to contact you, but we will make every effort.

Your charges for your stay will be refunded, if already collected, by VRBO, or we will provide you with a gift card, to book the same amount of time, at a future date, at that booking rate. Valid if The Epic WPB is operational.

ACTIVE STAYS:

If you are staying at The Epic when it falls under Tropical Storm/Hurricane Watch, with our property within the published “incidence cone” within forty-eight (48) hours, while you are staying with us, if the storm has the potential to reach a Category 1 level or greater:

1. If we are forced to close, due to a national, or state emergency, VRBO policy applies to all refunds/rescheduling. Anything not covered by VRBO: Credit, in the form of a gift card, will be issued for remainder of stay by us, if we have to close for such an emergency.

2. If we are notified by the news and/or National Weather Service that there will be a window where a hurricane, of any category strength, will pass through our area, we will close the house(s) down forty-eight (48) hours prior, or as soon as is possible, and ask all guests to vacate.

3. We provide you notice, in writing, by email, or on paper, or both. Reservations in progress are cancelled. You will be credited with your remaining stay. You are responsible for your own safety, and evacuation plans.
