The pool was fabulous. Was unaware we needed a car to get around. Lots of visitors “knew” what they were doing and where to go and were very rude and let it be known that we were doing whatever wrong. Felt very isolated and ocean view was there past the lava rocks, but not any access.

Aloha! Thank you for your feedback and that you enjoyed your holiday with us. We understand your concern about the extra fees such as resort fees. Rest assured that those fees go right back into the property's upkeep. We look forward to welcoming you back to Halii Kai in the future. Mahalo for staying with us. Denise E. Young - General Manager

I like the property location which not very far from the main shopping centers or highway. However, I did not like that the air conditioning was not working right the first night. Plus the master bedroom ceiling fan either was too low or way too high. I had very little sleep the first night. The ice machine did not work. They sent a maintenance man but he was unable to repair the ice machine, but he did bring 4 bags of ice. We had no ice the first day. They could not repair the ceiling fan while we were there. The maintenance man showed me how to adjust the air conditioning temperature, so the second night was more comfortable. Underneath the master bedroom bed the wooden louver to the bed frame were all dusty.

Your date is off. We stayed 5/6-16/18.

Pros: Pool and work out area.
Cons: N/A
Location: The Coffee Shack South of Kona has a fantastic view with good service and food. Hapuna Beach was fun. Great shopping in Kona.
We were greeted by Megan who was wonderful with her explanation of the property. We stayed in Unit 21E a 3 bedroom. It was clean and well supplied. The pool, work out area and the restaurant were excellent. The landscape was well cared for. Overall a great stay.

This is a GREAT resort that I would recommend to all.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This is a very LOVELY, comfortable, clean, well appointed place to stay. We were lucky to be located pretty close to the pool so we didn't have to walk very far to get to it. We were also far from the main road and it was VERY quiet. We were also on the first floor so no stairs to climb. Beach chairs, boogie board, pool noodles, cooler for food were provided which was appreciated. This is a gated community which is perfectly manicured and kept up.

We will be returning to Hali'i Kai

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, peaceful
Cons: no ocean access on the property
If you are looking for a comfortable quiet getaway, this is it. The condo is beautifully decorated and has all the basics for preparing meals. There is a gas grill and hammocks in the common area off the lanai. The pool is spectacular though not very deep and not suited for lap swimming. We saw whales from the pool deck every day! There is a sea side trail for hiking or running that goes along the entire coast. There is not a sandy beach access close by but several snorkeling areas with rocky entry points. No life guards on duty. If you require a guard, Hapuna beach is beautiful and about half an hour north.

Excellent condo, clean and comfortable beautiful setting

Pros: Quiet
Cons: internet sporadic at best
We enjoyed our stay at the Halii Kai. The condo was nicely furnished and clean. The balcony was nice in the morning and evening to sit and look out over the manicured gardens. Although the pool area was gorgeous and comfortable it is not really set up for children (they frown on splashing and frolicking). We went off season so there were not many children to begin with (our son is 11). However, the beach is nearby. The only suggestion I would make is to make the internet service more available. It was advertised as wi fi but it was sporadic at best and we could not access the secure connection. Overall, we had a very good experience at the Halii Kai and would definitely consider returning.

Great time, we loved the breakfast and the pool

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
This was the first time we visit Kona and the Castle Halii Kai at Waikoloa was the perfect location. Everything was luxury, we love the condos, the pool, the free breakfast was great for the value. Great upgraded units. Lots of things to do at the pool with gym and barbecue grill. If you don't like the crowds visit this place.

Nice, quiet location with housekeeping facilities.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet, near golf courses, small grocery nearby
We enjoyed our recent stay and would definitely recommend it to others, and would probably stay again. The location is quieter than right in Kona, which I found too congested for my taste. There is no beach access directly from this resort. Although you are ocean front, it's just black lava beach and not suitable for sunning and swimming. That didn't matter to us. There are beaches close by, some within walking distance, and apparently all beaches in Hawaii are open to the public. There is a very nice pool at this resort which is right on the ocean. This resort is one of many in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area, but you won't feel cramped. The area reminds me of an upscale residential neighborhood. There are shops, restaurants and a small grocery store on the resort, as well as a place to rent scooters and bikes. Lots of jogging and walking areas. Castle Hali'i Kai has a very small gym area that is in an outdoor kiosk and was very popular. If you're shy about working out with others, this isn't for you. While it wasn't what I had expected, it was better than nothing and certainly better than a lot of hotel fitness areas. The resort area is away from everything. If you don't want to shop or eat on the resort property, then you will need to drive into Kona to find anything else. Not a problem for us as we prefer to be in a quieter area for sleeping and relaxing than to have the convenience of being a few blocks from groceries, shopping and restaurants. It seemed to me that all of the hotels, condos, etc., in the Waikoloa Resort area were very nice and it would just depend on what is important to you as to which one you chose. Do you want a sandy beach, valet service, gift shop, etc.? Then you should probably choose one of the hotels on the property. Want to feel like you have a home away from home with all of the amenities? Then Castle Hali'i Kai fits the bill perfectly.

Perfection!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, close to great beaches, nicer than a hotel, private entrance
Just beautiful! I am very picky about cleanliness and decor and it was perfect! Would move into one if I could! Very nicely decorated...perfect kitchen! You have your own lawn if your condo is on the ground floor. Very quiet. If you are looking for a getaway, this is your place. The only downside is the sparse breakfast options but all in all this was a 9.9 on a scale of 10! My husband and I can't wait to get back!
