When we stayed this time, we were in an older part of the hotel. Some of the rooms are nicer than others, but we do love this hotel and have stayed two times now.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is a little south of most attractions but, is a way more affordable than some of the resorts in the tourist towns. I don't prefer shopping at Wal-Mart but, it is literally right across the road, which is super convenient for just purchasing trivial items you may have forgot to pack, or items you need. Main highway access is very close. Sturgeon Bay has plenty of attractions and our stay was extremely comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable.

We were checked into a room that had not been cleaned. Once we got another room, the beds had clean bedding and the towels were clean - but the whole place is run down and had a slight musty smell. Also, dogs in a room down the hall barked most of the afternoon into the evening.

I cancelled reservation and spoke with Expedia. My daughter has allergies and we were put in room with dog hair visible on floor and beds. She had a reaction within a couple of minutes of entering room. It also had musty order, dryer sheet stuck in AC unit and strong fruity deodorizer smell in attempt to cover odor, and my nostrils started burning. I complained and they put us in room that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I told them to cancel our reservation and they said only Expedia could cancel it. I talked to Expedia customer service, who called hotel. I stood at front desk while female employee spoke with Expedia and I heard her refuse to approve the cancellation saying she was not authorized and she did not give phone to the man who was also there and appeared to be manager or owner.

This building needs a major paint job (paint peeling everywhere) Heavy on uneven plaster patch up in my shower, very depressing. My room smelled like heavy cigarettes!
