Fermain Valley Hotel
"We had a few days here whilst we explored Guernsey. Ours was an upper garden room so we were at the top of the site with a bit of a slope down to the main hotel for breakfast. This wasn't a problem as we did get a message beforehand to warn us and give us the opportunity to change our booking if needed. The other downside to our room was that it faced onto the main road that runs past the hotel. Traffic noise was quite noticeable during the day but thankfully reasonably quiet at night. Would recommend you request a quiet room if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast selection was good though the service on the Sunday morning was slow due to a low number of staff on duty. There are 2 restaurants on site but if you wanted somewhere cheaper then there was just one pub quite a walk away. Otherwise you would have needed to get transport. The walk down to the bay was lovely and the cafe at the bottom had a good range of choices. We used the buses to get around and they are good value for money. Regrettably, the swimming pool was out of order when we arrived. Again, we did get a message beforehand to warn us and there were alternative arrangements at another hotel which was a fair distance away. Finally, we were a bit disappointed that the TV in our room used a very old Sky HD box and only had SCART connections. The Sky box was glitchy and the lack of HDMI connections was a surprise. ITs more routine now to have Smart TVs so this setup is quite antiquated."
