I stay at Casa Madrona because I was attending my 50th High School Reunion. This was my very first visit. Casa Madrona is a beautiful hotel and the staff is top notch. I hope to return soon and book a room with a view of the bay. You will love this hotel from the top notch staff and awesome hotel. Everything is just outside their front door to explore Sausalito.

excellent as always

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, location, great staff, valet parking
Cons: can't be there all the time
Casa Madrona is for us the only place to stay in north SFO - the staff are like family and it is a wonderful location and Poggio's below is a treat to be experienced both very early morning for latte, sitting in the delightful air there at the tables outside on the flower bordered sidewalk area & watching locals coming in and out chatting to the characters of staff attending in what seems to be a warm morning ritual, and then in the evening, when it seems diners from all over the world come to experience authentic Italian meals and add their various accents of conversations to the atmosphere - it all seems like a true 'get-away'. The rooms at CM are very clean and decorated in a tasteful and unfussy manner. Not opulent but understated 'trendy' and comfy. The staff, as always, are super kind and helpful. Rooms facing the street and with balconies have views of the harbor (which is across the street) and I think worth the price to upgrade to, if you are able to/available.

Awesome Remodel!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, spa, free dvd rentals, incredible views!!!, super friendly staff
Cons: lots of stairs
This place has nothing in common with the Casa Madrona of old. The rooms have been tastefully refurbished and the Hillside Cottages are incredible. The photos on the website give you a nice glimpse, but don't even do the property justice. The spa is very nice, too. Small but super elegant and the staff is terrific.

Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa October 9 - 14

We love Sausalito and the area that Casa Madrona was in. However, when we arrived we found that the ""bay view rooms"" were not what we thought they were. We had to take 2 elevators and walk up 78 stairs on the outside then up another set of 20 stairs to get to our room. We also found that the rooms were only $*/night and we paid $*/night..????- overcharged..... We did ask for different rooms and were given the rooms on the 3rd floor (my husband has a bad knee and cannot walk up that many stairs) These rooms had a ""bay view"" as well. But we had to move twice because the rooms we were in had been booked for Saturday night only. Fortunately the hotel did not have a lot of people staying so we were able to get the better rooms which were listed as $*/night, so we came out okay except for Saturday night. The website needs to tell everyone that you have to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the bay view rooms. Even though we had these problems, we would highly recommend the hotel because of it's location and the staff were very good to us. The bar and restaurant have excellent food too.

casa madrona,sausalito,ca.

always enjoy the hotel, have stayed in many different rooms but for rates with online travel website you are put up in old part of hotel. not a bad thing except the last 2 flights up have no elevator, and was put up in the top floor so another climb up a flight of stairs--am a healthy 70 yr. old but could be a problem for other people--would perhaps be a little better if they could be a little more accommodating--would only let me change rooms if i up graded to $***--hotel was far from full--

Casa Madrone

Fabulous location, right by the ferry and in the town centre. Hotel itself is a little tired and the rooms are expensive, however the location makes up for a lot! Lots of steps as the hotel is made up of many seperate buildings. We only stayed one night, but Sausalito is a great place to enjoy a quick break from the City, with several good restuarants close by.
