Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, food, tours, service
We just came back from Costa Rica and had a wonderful time. We stayed 4 nights in Lands in Love and it was great; Everybody was so nice, the food was amazing, the panoramic view from the porch in front of the rooms is breath taking. The pool was nice and clean. The rooms were simple but clean and the bed was very comfortable ( and I have a bed back, so that is very important to me). The tours in the property itself and the ones they arranged for us were all in good taste with nice and knowledgeable guides. We got to see many birds, monkeys, snakes, frogs - even a red one with blue legs. Just great. We will come back again.

Beautiful, secluded, with lots to offer

If you want to stay on a tourist strip, with fast food and neon lights, Lands in Love is not for you. If you want to stay in a beautifully secluded getaway, with superbly maintained grounds, breathtaking scenery, clean rooms, warm and inviting lobby and a friendly and helpful staff, then I would highly recommend Lands in Love if you are visiting Costa Rica. Being secluded does not mean lacking amenities, because there is wireless internet and cable TV in the rooms. We are not vegetarians, but we found the food was excellent and made with fresh ingredients. The grounds are gorgeous, with hiking trails, waterfalls, a rushing river, and tons of flowers and wildlife. If you don't like animals, this is not the place for you, but we found the presence of dogs, cats and horses on the grounds greatly enhanced our experience! There are activities right on the premises, such as horseback riding, canopy tours and games in the lobby, or you can just lounge by the sparkling clean pool. If you want to get out and see the country, the helpful staff will arrange tours to any of the many attractions Costa Rica has to offer. The staff was so accommodating and friendly, that by the end of the week, we felt that we were staying with old friends. If you are into chain hotels, rowdy bars, and commercialism, do not stay at Lands in Love. If you are looking for a truly unique experience, where you can commune with nature or tour the country at your discretion, then you will be very pleased with your stay here.

Beware that the hotel is somewhat far from Arenal Volcano

We canceled our reservation because the hotel is not in La Fortuna, it is on the road to La Fortuna which is not what we were looking for as we wanted to stay in La Fortuna right by the Arenal Volcano.\nDiscard our ratings as we did not spend a night at ands in Love Hotel and Resort. We wanted to write this review to make sure that travelers realized that Lands in Love Hotel and Resort is somewhat far from the Arenal Volcano.

Cloud forest heaven!

Lands in Love (Tierra Enamoradas) is owned and operated by 20 young Israelis who themselves love living in the central highlands of Costa Rica, and it shows! The 30+ rooms are in bungalows overlooking a deep forested valley, allowing guests to simply relax on the patio and let the birds and butterflies come to them. Alternatively, hikes are possible down to waterfalls or up to the ridge for canopy tours by zipline. The Israeli and Tico staff are friendly and helpful, making each meal a special experience, with delicious vegetarian dishes predominating. Breakfast coffee from Costa Rican plantations is exceptional. The tour staff offers excellent suggestions and makes arrangements for day trips -- to the Arenal volcano, Rio Fortuna waterfall, Baracon hot springs, Naranjo coffee cooperative, among many other destinations. After six days at Lands in Love, we truly hated to leave, in part because of the location but mainly because of the warmth and helpfulness of the staff. We will be back!

I will start with the bad - i don't understand how people that did such an emazing job in creating this magical hotel did such a bad work on their web-site...\nI came to Lands in love based on the great reviews that i read here and almost didn't come because of the web-site... it's not exciting and does'nt describe what you see once in this hotel... the views of the cloud forest are breath-taking, so many art work in the rooms, lobby - everywhere i went i saw pretty little details that just open the heart, and to complete with the service of the owners (a group of 20 israelies), the good food (can't beleive it's vegetarian - the and lasagna taste like the real thing) and the activities canopy etc. this is the perfect place.\n\nFrom all the pretty places i visited in CR, this is the best!\n

beautiful relaxation

great location if you don't want to be surrounded by tourist attractions and too many people. Friendly staff, very helpful without being overly accomodating. Beautiful surroundings and great on site activties. Introduced us to new cuisine, vegetarian food can be great! Definitely would stay again. Costa Ricans are wonderfully friendly and have a beautiful country.

A dreamy vacation

I was very impressed with this resort.\nEven though it was my first time in this country, I decided to take my chance and drive by with the family with my own rented car. Beautiful view 1.5 hour drive from, S.J. airport and signs on the way.\nThe hotel is located in an amazing setup, magical cloud forest and mountains.\nThe staff was very nice and extra helpful with every request- big and small.\nThe lobby and the rooms are cozy and beautiful, we simply sat at the jacuzzi while watching the mountains.\nWe took some tours that were organized for us by the hotel tour desk. All of their recommendations proved to be helpful. On some days we preferred relax hanging around the hotel with it?s forest trails, or driving few minutes to the next village for shopping (supermarket, clothing, souvenirs, etc.). The hotel is located between two cities: San Ramon and La Fortuna- 45 min. each and there you will be able to find everything you need - visit the arenal volcano ,going to the hot springs etc.\nThe international menu includes Israeli, Italian, Asian and more. Their chocolate cake alone could make me stay there forever.\nThey have an adventure center, we did some of the activities: canopy, zip lines, rafting and horseback riding with professional guides and it was an exciting experience.\nIf i'm back in CR this ny number 1 destination\n\n\n

landsin love is wonderful place to stay, it combines nature at best ? I saw there beautiful toucans and hummingbirds that were flying everywhere and adventure activities - the MOST exciting canopy, rafting and horseback riding. \n\nThe food of Lands in love needs to have a special section - I'm not a vegetarian but I wish I had in my city such a restaurant that offer a food that is so tasty, realy change the way I think about vegetarian food, if I'm coming back to CR, I'm coming right back to LIL and continue from there to other locations!!!\n

Pretty but remote

Our first shock was the five hour cab ride from the airport to the hotel. We came from the Liberia airport but I don't think San Jose would have been that much closer. Be sure to have lots of cash.\n\nGood features: The staff is AWESOME. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is not luxurious but very clean. The views from the room are amazing, because you are in the middle of the rain forest and everything is green. Beautiful views of the mountains. The pool is clean and the jacuzzi is nice, but was not working for 3 out of the 6 days we stayed there. Lots of animals on premises (which we liked). \n\nProblems: It is in the middle of nowhere, and unless you are happy with eating vegetarian food three meals a day, there are no convenient eating alternatives. It was a $30 to $50 cab ride to the nearest restaurants, and most of the excursions required a one to two hour drive to La Fortuna (depending on whether you had private or public transportation). No shopping nearby, and be sure to bring all your toiletries because there is no gift shop or drug shop.

Simply Amazing

Lands in Love is a very special place. The staff is warm, friendly and eager to please. The rooms were spotless, the dining is some of the finest that I have experienced and the staff treats you as if you are a part of their family. Every request was answered with ""Yes"". We will go back again!
